Seeing the before/after pictures of the Superdome reminded me of the LA Times syndicated story by Scott Gold - with the breathless headline (in the Oregonian) "Superdome shelters house of horrors"

WTF? "Horrors"???

I checked the LA Times site, and there it is titled "Trapped in an Arena of Suffering"

Hmmm. Looks like the Oregonian is being a little sensational!

From Gold's story in the Times: "The Louisiana Superdome, once a mighty testament to architecture and ingenuity, became the biggest storm shelter in New Orleans the day before Katrina's arrival Monday. About 16,000 people eventually settled in.
By Wednesday, it had degenerated into horror. A few hundred people were evacuated from the arena Wednesday, and buses will take away the vast majority of refugees today.

But that apparently isn't sensational enough for the Oregonian, they word it: "... By Wednesday, it had degenerated into unspeakable horror."

Of course, being "unspeakable" doesn't stop them from providing graphic details of "the horrors". :-(

Leaves me wondering if the LA Times edited-out the "unspeakable", and the Oregonian ran with the original; or whether the Oregonian added the "unspeakable" on their own.
