Shatner Sells Own Kidney Stone — Without comment.
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Going maybe where no other actor has gone before, “Star Trek” star William Shatner has sold a piece of his body for charity.
Shatner, famed for playing Captain James T. Kirk, commander of the starship U.S.S. Enterprise in the original “Star Trek” TV series, sold his kidney stone to online casino GoldenPalace.Com for $25,000. The money will be donated by Shatner to Habitat for Humanity to build houses for the poor.
But Shatner said it wasn’t easy parting with a kidney stone, even if it had already left his body. He also said he would never sell unless he had visitation rights.

This is where I have to depart from your west coast logic:
I don’t think Bush lied, I think he deliberatly left out key information. If that means he lied to you, that’s fine… but then you have to apply the same logic to every other situation where a leader, regardless of political stripe, left out key information and judge accordingly.
For example, JFK looks like a dud regarding the Cuban Missile Crisis, since we now know he moved our missiles out of Turkey to appease the Russians. Using this logic, we don’t need a blonde and her double D’s to paint JFK as a liar.
That being said, I don’t see JFK or Bush as liars. I see them as manipulating information to get what they need. Bush needed a second front in the middle east to send his “don’t tread on me” message. JFK needed to save face to maintain ties in Europe. They did their job.
This is why the “liar” attacks aren’t swaying the middle: It’s the wrong way to debate what’s going on, because people know that every leader bullshits… it’s only a matter of degrees.
If you’re going to attack Bush, go after his tact… or his motives… or his execution. There’s plenty to get him on. But painting him as a liar just isn’t working.
