New Barabus Supposedly World’s Fastest Car

The Bugatti Veyron may no longer be the world’s fastest car. Today — following a number of teasers and leaks — Barabus officially unveiled the TKR: a new 1005 horsepower supercar the automaker says is capable of doing zero to 60 mph in 1.67 seconds. What’s more, the car reportedly has a top speed of 270 mph — nearly 20 more than the Veyron. Power comes from a 6.0 liter V8 twin-turbocharged with dual intercoolers. The car has a full carbon fibre body and chassis. Further details remain sparse, but the automaker says it will sell the car for £360,000, which should translate to around $500,000, using typical automotive market conversion rates.

Bugatti (pictured here) Still Looks Better

  1. Joanne says:

Why is this important? Does the fiber carbon body make it lighter as
well as stronger? Does the ability to accelerate faster mean higher
mechanical tolerances, or do mechanics not even enter into it anymore? A top increase in speed of 20 mph when you are over 250
already seems allmost pointless in a land vehicle. Most important of all, why is there stil air? jh

  2. Tom says:

    Thats very cool car.

  3. Mr. H. Fusion says:

Above a certain speed, it all hurts the same anyway. Just give me the money, I’ll blow it on a 911 and gas, insurance, and speeding tickets for a couple of years.

  4. Xwing says:

Looks too much like a Saleen S7 in the front and sides and a Pagani Zonda F in the rear. Use some original styling for a change! And those specs sound great, but I want to see a true road test before I believe that. Until then, the Veyron is still the king of the hill.

  5. bill says:

Crap!!! mine only does 1-60 in 1.69 seconds! POS!

  6. bill says:

I still want one of those new Porsche Turbos’ with “overboost”…

  7. Rick says:

Why Bullshit? I mean, I’m not getting the headline (in the blog). Is there some controversey or is it that, because the Bugatti looks cooler, there is no way another car could go faster?

  8. James says:

At that speed how do you not smash into the car in front of you when the traffic lights turn green :)

  9. JSFORBES says:

That 0-60 speed seems like bullshit. I could believe it if it were packing some big drag slicks, but there’s just no way it can get that kind of power to the ground and achieve such a low 0-60 with those tires. I’ve never heard of anything doing better than 2 seconds, even F1 cars with their awesome grip. Dragsters of course do better, but they have big, sticky tires. This thing doesn’t look like much of a dragster.

  10. malren says:

It’s only partially bullshit. It’s 0-60 on a dyno. Theoretically the car is capable of it *IF* you could get the power transferred to the ground. Same with the Bugatti Veyron, BTW. These sub-2 second 0-60 times are all dyno times, not real world times.

Marketing. What it means is that all things being equal, the Barabus is slightly faster than the Bugatti. However, all things are never equal in the real world, and with the ass-end of that Barabus, I wouldn’t be caught dead drivng it if I was rich enough for a supercar. It’s fugly.

  11. Tom says:

To hit 60 in 1.7 seconds requires an acceleration of approximately 3Gs… Impossible for a street car on street tires. Period.

    Tom

  12. ZMoo says:

Stupid waste of resources for ignorant f-wads.

  13. ECA says:

you can do it…BUT…a real BIG but.
you have to have a certain amount of weight, to hold the car to the ground.
Full acceleration would burn the tires off.
without enough weight you will sit there, burning tires.

THIS is probably the speed AFTER it got OFF the line and not the 2 minutes it spun its tires.

  14. JimJammer says:

Malren – the arse-end photo you don’t like is the Bugatti not the Barabus! The Barabus looks like a Zonda upfront – very sweet!

  16. OmarTheAlien says:

The posted 0-60 times are available only with the (not pictured) big ass rocket motor option strapped to the rear of the vehicle. Vehicle manufacturer not responsible for any “whiplash” effects or spinal cord damage. Soiled underwear can be replaced at normal market values (passengers only).

  17. malren says:

“Malren – the arse-end photo you don’t like is the Bugatti not the Barabus! The Barabus looks like a Zonda upfront – very sweet!”

No, no, I like the Bugatti’s big round juicy ass. :) I saw some fairly high res photos of the Barabus over at Autoblog. Not attractive. It looks like a car someone crazy tuner would build in Need For Speed. The front end, although derivative of Italian supercars, is nice. The cabin area is nice…but the Barabus has a nasty ass, like Beulah Ballbricker from “Porky’s.” :)

  18. Bruce says:

Is it me or does it looked Photoshopped?

  19. Jim says:

    Totally pointless.

  20. Kalvin says:

my supra would kill it in 0-60 OR 1/4 mile, you guys dont even wanna see under the hood of her
