All the blogosphere is wacked out over a couple of poorly done “doctored” photos showing Beirut all smoky. Curiously the original photo shown here is actually fine as-is. What is the guy thinking to do a crappy Photoshop job like this. So how about an open competition as to who can do the best fake pic from this photo.

Here is the original.

Here’s his crappy fake.

Here’s a more aggressive attempt at a fake. Let’s see if the editors are fooled!

Here’s the way I’d do it.

Here’s the way John S. Dvorak [numlock] would do it.
Your turn. All ideas welcome.

you forgot to add godzilla
Where’s the Sim City version?
This is totally tasteless… what would you think about a similar contest but with a WTC picture on 9/11?
Tasteless, because terrorists organizations don’t operate out of WTC 1, 2, or 5?
South Beirut on the other hand…
Civilians are being killed in Lebanon, don’t you find making fun of civilian deaths tasteless too?
“9-11, 9-11 , 9-11″
We’re making fun of the photographer and reuters..get a clue. And that original pic looks like nothing more than a single fire making a smoky mess. This happens in Oakland too. Hardly the same or even similar to 9-11. Or are you trying to trivialize 9-11? Now that’s tasteless.
I agree, it is tasteless that journalists would serve the agenda of a terrorist group.
First the outrage over Israel’s supposed destruction of Beirut.
Now that evidence is coming out that Israel isn’t destroying anything like as much as they were acused of:

And this one…
It’s “tasteless”!
Oh wait, that’s the one the hour after iran and Sryia Egype, Iraq, Jordan Lebanon, and Hamas decide to attack. Gee, I didn’t see where it came from!
And there’s these 2 as well:

Hey, this thread is about the photo! NOT Israel, terrorism, the deaths of civilians, Hezbollah — go here for that thread:

I personally do think that terrorists (or their supporters – by money, ammunition supply or even sympathy – for that case) trying to awaken our sympathetic feelings towards them by simply spreading forged documentation – is tasteless.
Well John I’d say it’s about the photo and the fools who fell for it.
Spin Media
errr
My attempt.
Reuters has fired him and pulled all his photos. Only two are known to be doctored. There were two others that had the same woman and the same building, and both captioned that she had lost her house the night before. The photgrapher is working with Hezbollah and not just doctoring photos but staging them too.
It makes me wonder about the percentage of other journalist that are digitally altering photographs or video footage.
Here is the other one by him that was obviously doctored:

my version:

This picture, and the associated story on The Onion, sums it all up for me…
Oh, we joked about Bush’s hypocrisy and opportunism.
“The terrorists have won, the terrorists have won!”
