This is a pretty old post but I thought I’d put my two cents in.

As a Christian and someone who has struggled with sexual addiction and lust, I am not surprised by the poll. Satan is trying his hardest to seduce the church and lead them away from the freedom we have in Christ. If you think that you are free because you are not a Christian then you are majorly deceived. God’s word says that we are either a slave to sin or to Christ. If you’re not following Jesus then your following Satan, black & white.

God has given us free will to choose the path we will walk. If we choose Jesus than He will be our strength when we are weak. And Paul says that our Spirit is at war with our flesh so that we do the things we do not want to do. That’s why we need to have constant fellowship with God so that He can renew our mind to focus on the things of God. That is what it is to walk in the Spirit. It’s not easy because the world is very seductive with it’s material riches and instant feel good everything. But I know that in the end that stuff just leads to misery and destruction.

Addiction is addiction, whether to sex, drugs, material gain, whatever it is you use to make yourself feel better so you don’t have to face the truth of your internal state. God says that even if we look at someone lustfully, we have committed adultery. God doesn’t care about our outside pious appearance, he cares about what’s going on on the inside. That’s why Jesus rebuked the Pharisees cause they were more concerned about how they looked on the outside. They were people pleasers, loving the praise of men. But inside they were full of crap. And we can all be like that too. Whether lust, greed, hate, we need God to cleanse us on the inside; we can’t hide nothing from Him. And Jesus claims that He is the Son of God and He is the only way to God. Each one of us has a choose of accepting Jesus or rejecting Him. God bless…

As for the poll, even if it weren’t a perfect example of self-selecting statistically irrelevant BS, what would Evangelicals care (apart from grinding their axe I mean)? They can be forgiven for practically everything, so what’s the big deal?

Two things:
1)God created marriage not government or religion
2)Jesus is God and He created sex so I think he knows more than us about it and especially what is right or wrong about it and thing associated with it
