Now that is just plain fun!
Miltos Manetas is the “artist” taking credit for this work and he has gotten quite a bit of credit for it. Time calls it one of the 50 coolest websites (or so Manetas’ website claims – I didn’t confirm this). Unfortunately all this notoriety has come as the result of stealing someone else’s work, registering a domain name (associated with another famouse artist) and slapping his name on it. Manetas stole this work from Eric Stamen (http://stamen.com/projects/splatter) over two years ago. He eventually gave some credit to Stamen (check the title bar of your browser). It has caused controversy across several blogs awhile back and you can see Stamen’s comments on the thieving here (http://eric.stamen.com/2004/03/its-said-that-imitation-is-sincerest.html) and here (http://eric.stamen.com/2004/07/hah-readers-of-this-blog-will-remember.html).
Although basically a hacked version… it is different to Eric Stamens flash thing. Not a lot though, just a little better to use.
