Dave that would make for a great Photo!!!
Honestly there are 3D monitors out that make fitting your head in a bowling ball sized helmet nothing more than comical

The best eyegear on the market INMSHO is the eMagin set. It has twin OLED displays and an integrated head tracker.

11 I can’t imagine anyone’s going to find it comfortable to wear.

I second that.

My wife and I went to one of the IMax 3D movies [1997, Irvine Spectrum 21theaters - south of Irvine, where 405 meets 5], which had everyone in the audience wearing headsets with LCD-shutters sync'd to the projector, via wireless...

Great technology, but we both had mild headaches that night from the muscle-strain in the back of our necks - from that small amount of continuous extra effort against the added weight of the headsets/goggles - just to keep looking up at the big screen for that long.

Note that this helmet is 3 kilos. That's a bit under 7 pounds. I can't imagine anyone's going to find it comfortable to wear.

I'm with Alix: Why is she facing a monitor?

Would the Daily Mail's readers not understand the picture if the monitor wasn't in it? :)

a full 360-degree view on a 40 centimetre dome-shaped screen.

And how is that done?

I get the feeling that the designer of this thing has in his DNA. remnants of a ancestor who thought sticking his head in the butt checks of a Woolly Mammoth would be a good way to keep his ears warm.

"if it’s an immersive headset, why is she facing a monitor?"

So that when her neck and shoulder muscles scream in pain from the weight and she has to take it off she can keep on playing.

Its easy...
Use a dual display Glasses,
A IR position detector.
and away you go...
dont need all that, unless you want audio also...
But, this could give you a WIDE screen display from Hell...
