Healthy Wholesome Whole Wheat Krispy Kreme Donut Debuts

What amuses me about these PR announcements, other than that they get press coverage in the first place, is how the press parrots the company’s slogans– like in this case, “with only 180 calories!” For the record, the original crispy creme donut has “only 200 calories.” Cripes!!

The 100 percent whole wheat doughnut – with only 180 calories – has a caramel flavoring and is covered with the doughnut-maker’s original glaze.

While the stock once traded above $50, it fell to about $4 during 2006.

I do love ‘em, though. And yes, I’ll probably try the new ones too.

Their success, of course, depends on HIM.

I’ve been around a while, and I’ve had many donuts over the years.

Next thing you know, KK will come out with a donut called “Vista” — but we’ll need to get bigger stomachs for them, and they’ll cost 3x what donuts normally cost.

Check out what these things are fried in. They each have 4 grams of trans-fats. Also,”It’s not the 200 calories that’ll get you (though 200 times two, three, or four sure might). It’s the six grams of saturated-plus-trans fat. That’s nearly a third of a day’s worth of bad fat in every ring. It’s like eating a slice of white bread smeared with a tablespoon of lard (plus a tablespoon of jelly).”

Same goes for Dunkin Donuts: “Virtually the entire menu of three dozen doughnuts, muffins and cakes contain between 1.5 grams and 5 grams of trans fat apiece.“

We had a KK store here that had been open in the same location for several decades. They had several employees who had worked there for over 30 years. When they decided to remodel the place, they FIRED EVERYBODY, and told them that they would have to reapply for their jobs when the store reopened. All benefits lost, seniority lost, everybody starts back at the bottom of the pay scale.

Screw KK, I’ll never eat another one.

Krispy Kremes are only tasty when they’re warm. They’ve left New Mexico, as Dunkin Donuts puts out a better donut. Now if Only Winchell’s would come back and give Dunky a bit of competition.
