If this commercial would have had Jobs in it, the apple fanboys would be lining up to praise how wonderfully original it was.

Pretty good commercial all in all. Better than that damn 'hello' iPhone commercial, that's for sure.

I recall this commercial showing up about the time an urban legend was going around about Bill G. being at a convenience store and being short on cash. To get the line moving again, a woman behind him gave the clerk what he was short. The story goes on that Bill didn't even bother to thank her.

I wonder if they paid him for that, or if he did it to be funny. (if the latter, it worked.)

Maybe he'd just got onto the Coca Cola board of directors or something. There has got to be an interesting back story in their somewhere for the next guys to write a "Fire in the Valley" type of technoid history.

What I find most amusing about Bill is his voice. Mine voice stopped cracking at the end of puberty -- is Billy still undergoing adolescence? He sort of reminds me of Walt Disney doing Mickey Mouse's voice.

At Microsoft our vending machines carry the most popular brands like Coca Cola, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, etc... Who wants to drink Apple only products like MacCola, Apple Juice, Lisa Spring Water... Sure you might have to reboot the coke machine every once in a while but it doesn't take a paper clip to get the soda out.

Why didn't he smash the Coke machine? Have you ever seen an enraged Coke machine!? A little geek like Bill wouldn't have a chance. The machine would tear him limb from limb and dine on his organs. Just remember Coke machines are normally docile but to be safe avoid direct eye contact, don't bare your teeth, and most of all avoid fast movements.

Soft drinks are free at the Microsoft campus as well. That was the big irony of the commercial (not that the richest guy has no quarters).

They also have free clean towels in the locker room. That would've been a very disturbing commercial: Bill Gates can't find a towel and has to roam thru campus with only a soft drink to cover himself.
