WOW ok so this is the lamest thing i have ever heard! i agree with that one person… let humans continue to raise it and let us kill it later due to it attacking a caretaker.. at least it got a good 5-10 years in. guess im just stuck on the whole killing a baby thing. for some reason killing an adult bear sounds not as bad… just me?? I think this is ridiculous… if you say we should kill the bear because it was raised by humans, then why wouldn’t we kill all the animals that have been kept and raised in captivity at the zoos and wild life refuges? Haven’t they been raised by humans too?

These people who want to kill the baby polar bear are assholes, and they discourage the entire animal rights movement. Animal rights isn’t about killing animals who are in nature, animal rights is about protecting, liberating animals from torturous situations, and not eating or using animals for entertainment or animal testing. I am a vegan animal rights supporter, and when I see this, it makes ME feel sick that someone, who CLAIMS TO BE AN ANIMAL RIGHTS ACTIVIST, would want to have a little tiny polar bear slain. Now that’s not animal rights. Animal rights is compassion for animals, not slaying all animals that aren’t in nature. I think this website is made up of faggot motherfuckers, dvorak, because the caption below the Knut picture says “One day he’ll make a fine rug.” Fuck you all!

#31 and #32…..Gotti, you made my day with those 2 posts. I was just sitting here thinking about all the death and destruction caused by roving bands of polar bears in our parks.

To be honest, Herr Albrecht was attempting to make a point that I tend to agree with. Unfortunatly, he chose the wrong target. As an Animal advocate, I don’t agree with the killing of any animal not specifically raised for food(I can hear the screaming now, but we all, humans, animals and others, have the right to provide food for ourselves to ensure our survival, and I believe man is primarily a carnivore)……..but I also understand the point the nice Doctor was trying to make. Taking an animal from the wild and allowing it to become **humanized** almost certainly means the animals death when re-released to the wild.(it’s why groups who treat injured or abandoned animals avoid contact with the animals as much as possible)……the Doctors mistake here is that this is a Zoo born animal that will never be released to the wild. While the keeper in this case may have gone over board and could be raising a problem bear, under normal circumstances, there shouldn’t be a problem.
