A look at the animated Star Wars series, which looks as a CGI 3D representation of the Clone Wars cartoons. Lucas has stated that this is a PG-13 series. So far there hasn’t been any announcement of where and when it will air. I’m not that convinced about the look.

Update: New video source added.

  1. Eric Phillips says:

Star Wars is dead to me. Those prequels killed it.

  2. Ringo says:

I liked the Tartakovsky shorts alot better. I felt his animation style meshed well with the action involved in the series, particularly the Mace Windu episode.

The CGI series seems to be simply retelling the same story over, but going into more detail.

  4. Asperante says:

Seems more like a video game trailer… i have seen blizzard cut scenes that looked better 🙁

  5. jimb says:

Holy crap! I’d buy this on DVD.

  6. Mark Derail says:

A true SW fan will buy / dig anything SW no matter the quality.

// Bring back Farscape & Serenity, oh FSM

  7. Shadowbird says:

#2 – Indeed. They can try to retell the story in a different way, but the Tartakovsky micro-series did what the prequel movies didn’t: tell a compelling story without going effects-happy (if I remember correct, the whole thing was traditional animation). This looks to be on the complete opposite spectrum from the Tartakovsky shorts. While the shorts carried the same cinematic and compelling style that was used in Dexter’s Lab, the Powerpuff Girls, and Samurai Jack, this new version of Clone Wars looks like cut scenes from a cel-shaded video game.

  8. ChrisMac says:

There are 5 new Farscape TV movies coming out..
First one played here on Space Channel last weekend
    (my dvr picked it up)

  9. John Paradox says:

Does anyone else think the Queen looks like Anorexia instead of Amadala?

    J/P=?

  10. Paul says:

Why hasn’t the technology of the Star Wars world progressed from the Clone Wars to the 6th movie? It seems that other than the Death Star, no new technology was available since this time. This trailer shows hyper-drive (warp) speed travel, blasters, droids…. Shouldn’t there be different and better travel methods, war machinery and personal robotics?

  11. Cursor_ says:

Another grab for money I sense this is.
Only two sith can there be, a master and an apprentice.
Yet more sith this trailer does show to us.
Blinded by the greedy side of Darth Economus (Lucas) we are becoming.
Only pain, suffering and a decrease in credits can this lead to.

  12. Air Phloo says:

#10 – it is only one generation – maybe they’ve hit the technological frontier already by episode I; what is more advanced than hyper speed? Ludicrous speed I suppose.

  13. FRAGaLOT says:

Aw video’s been removed.. any alternate links?

As for the technology. Lucas wanted to give the impression that the technology is ubiquitous, most of the ships are as old and common as used cars in the street in RL. There really isn’t much going on to peruse newer technology with the common population of the galaxy. Except with the military that need new ways to kill people quicker.

  14. Angel H. Wong says:

    #12

And yet they are unable to develop antidepressants. Maybe because Amidala gave birth in planet Dianetica.

I can’t see the video anymore.. Looks like someone from LucasArts bitched and got it removed…

  15. Mark T. says:

Damn. “This video is no longer available”. That didn’t take long.

  16. Lauren the Ghoti says:

Of course it’s ‘no longer available’ – you wouldn’t want Darth Economus Lucas to have to go on food stamps, would you?

(‘Darth Economus – that’s rich, Cursor_ But didn’t you forget his evil alter ego, Darth Plagiarous?)

  17. BubbaRay says:

    #12, Air Phloo

    Ludicrous speed I suppose.

Nah, we’re goin’ to PLAID !!

  18. Cursor_ says:

    Returned it has:

Strong is the reach of the sith lord Economus.
Even so cannot stop the council from seeing plans he has.

Watchful eye council must keep upon this sith suggest I.

  19. SeaninSeattle says:

#1 got it right. This is me, yawning.

  20. BubbaRay says:

Gasparrini, thanks for the updated link. Looked cool for total CGI.

  21. hhopper says:

    The video, jumpy it looks.
