Only 29 cases in 11 years triggered this warning? Better safe than sorry, as they say, but that woman (or man if you’re gay) better be damn worth it to lose your hearing over if true.

FDA warns Viagra tied to hearing loss

Viagra and other impotence drugs are about to bear new warnings that users may experience sudden hearing loss.

It’s not clear that the drugs truly trigger hearing loss, but the Food and Drug Administration decided Thursday to add a warning about the possible risk after counting 29 reports of the problem since 1996 among users of this family of medicines.

The impotence drugs Viagra, Cialis and Levitra will bear the warnings. So will Revatio, a drug for pulmonary hypertension, which contains the same ingredient as Viagra.

First your vision now hearing. Sounds like a fair trade.

  6. paddler says:

What’s better? Losing your hearing so you don’t have to listen to the old bats that you are f**king or losing your vision so you don’t have to look at them?

  7. Nelson says:

Maybe they are just doing it wrong!

  8. Quote from Family Guy

“Kids nowadays are having ear sex and you know what they say: Once you go black, you go deaf.”

  9. hhopper says:

How many woodies would a woody popper pop if a woody popper would pop woodies?

    Would he?

  11. Joshua says:

29 cases huh? Now, how many doses of Viagra and it’s knock off’s have been sold and popped since 1996? I think the last figure I saw was just for Viagra alone and was something like 40 million doses a year sold world wide.
Maybe someone has a more up to date figure.

    Rush Limbaugh and 28 others??

  13. Glenn E says:

They found some old heart medication (that was probably going generic) that caused erections. So they jumped on remarketting it for a new purpose. Ignoring, of course, these possible side effects. They did that same thing with with the older medication than regrew hair. And even though these were developed from scratch, as they originally were. They once more charge thru the nose for their merely redefined use. No new costly research necessary (to have paid for). Also… Smoking tobacco leads to impotence. Which is what the Viagra is correcting for. But the government never require that warning on the cigarette packages. “Warning: Smoke can permanently screw up your sex life.” Now that would have stopped far more people than the cancer warning has. And they probably knew about this side effect for tobacco, a long time ago. But still there’s no warning about it. If they ever get around to doing that, it will probably say “Warning: Smoking will lead to Viagra.”
