Balls?

Tennis Balls? What tennis balls?

Oh I say! The tennis tournament that uses models as ballgirls – mailonsunday.co.uk: Could this be the prettiest ballgirl in tennis history? Hugo Boss would certainly like us to think so.
Showing off her ever-ready ball skills, this catwalk beauty was just one of a team of trained adult models appearing at the Madrid Masters in Spain.

Somehow I suddenly feel compelled to watch Tennis…

But unlike other tennis championships around the world, in Madrid the tennis stars come second.
Here it is the model ballgirls – all clad in pink and blue outfits emblazoned with Hugo Boss – who draw the crowds.
Despite drawing the ire of Spanish government officials, equality groups and even American hero Andre Agassi, the marketing stunt looks set to stay.
Not that this year’s testosterone-fuelled male tennis stars seemed to mind.

Speaking of balls, this reminds me of a song from the Pure Pwnage guys called “Big big big da balls” (Warning, coarse language).

  1. ECA says:

PLEASE dont let them wear shorts…

  2. pjakobs says:

    you gotta love spain!
Great wine, great brandy, great culture and girls who know how to dress to the occasion 😀

  3. doug says:

and Spanish models are apparently not all stick figures!

  4. Esteban says:

    íViva España!

  5. JS says:

WOW I should go to the tennis more…

I seem to recall that it was in Spain they decided to introduce a legal minimum-weight requirement for women who wanted to work in the modelling business, appear in beauty pageants, or any similar function.

  7. Mike says:

#3 – And apparently not all that attractive either!

    • Tomas says:

Say what? “Not all that attractive”. WTF are you talking about. The model in this photo is amazingly beautiful. In my opinion you’re either blind, jealous, or a combination of the two. At the very least you’re extremely rude.

  8. bobbo says:

How about “Strip Tennis” where the “Ball Girls” and Fluffers are fully clothed having to remove a piece with every ace?

Yes, the sexualization/infantilization of culture. Coming soon to GOUSA I’m sure. Cheerleaders just aren’t enough!

  9. RTaylor says:

Most travelers seldom leave the urban centers and tourist traps. Spend some time in rural European areas and you’ll get a reality check. Large cities attract the wealthy, ambitions, and good looking folks. Better known as the urban elite.

  10. OvenMaster says:

    #8: Promises, promises.
#9: Why would anyone want to leave the urban areas to deliberately see ugly people?

  11. Meow says:

The relentless activation on the sex drive in the popular media is great for a healthy economy but the psychological damage on society is evident everywhere. Just ask yourself this question: Are you happy? Why?

  12. OhForTheLoveOf says:

#3 and #7 – So you’ve seen pictures other than the two above? Because that’s a group shot of pretty faces on top of stick figures…

  13. HisMostHumblyExhaultedSupremeGlobalWarmingMajesty says:

#12 – they don’t look overly thin to me. Pretty much just right.

  14. OhForTheLoveOf says:

#13 – Just right for what?

  15. The Monster's Lawyer says:

It’s nice to see that they are learning proper ball handling.

  16. Peter Rodwell says:

you gotta love spain! Great wine, great brandy, great culture and girls who know how to dress to the occasion

Four (but not all) of the reasons I decided to move here 21 years ago – and still not regretting it!

  17. HisMostHumblyExhaultedSupremeGlobalWarmingMajesty says:

#14 – not for the deadlift of shotputting obviously, but for most other things….mmmmm….just right.

  18. Angel H. Wong says:

    Hooters for rich folk.

  19. BdgBill says:

This is what the WNBA should have been. Girls who look like girls playing a sport like girls (badly).

Instead the WNBA is full of players who look like men, are the size of men but still manage to play badly.
