Burnt toast could soon be a thing of the past thanks to the world’s first transparent toaster. The new concept glass toaster, which lets you see your bread as it browns, is from product developer Inventables. The idea is based on transparent heating glass technology and the idea is that the glass heats up enough to toast the bread.

It means people can keep their eye on their breakfast and eject the slice at the moment it turns the perfect colour. This would eradicate the need to put the bread back down and run the risk of having to scrape burnt toast. However, a traditional timer dial is still incorporated into the design, for people who are too busy to keep an eye on their bread. A downside to the current design is that it only fits one piece of bread at a time.

Now if only they can figure out a way to incorporate your favorite toasted deity. Until then, I think I’ll wait for the upgrade.

Well, I’m back already, and all I can say is, piss, double shit and extra damn.

It exists only as a concept so far.

So – no lawsuits. But no damn toast, either.

    Pffffffft. Twice.

19–clear stuff, if its not glass, is an insulator and I can see good heat and cool touch being possible. I could also see it be able to take just about any size object too==that would increase the functionality quite a bit. Still no reason for it not to be two slice size with a one slice option? Gee, if it did all that, all its missing is the egg cooker on the side.

(Thz–sorry, I meant I had lost track of the discussion and meant no disrespect if I did not respond to your winning argument. If we both lost track at the same time, we’ll have to wait for the next rematch.)

#22 Bobbo – I also meant that I lost track as well because I was finding it hard to know which side of the line I was on! :) Anyway on to the next match!

#19 Jake – The WiFi is an optional extra (dongle) which will enable the Apple iToast to communicate with the Apple iCoolBox. Not that it is necessary but its a cool thing to point out when people are visiting.

Another really really cool feature of the Apple iToast is the glass plates double as a LCD monitor which connects to the Apple Zoolander Air Lapthingy via a IR port. How cool is that? Checking your emails while toasting one piece of bread?

    Cheers

#17 Three Headed Cat said – “I’ve ALWAYS hated getting two slices done at the same time, since by the time I’ve buttered the first slice, the second one isn’t hot enough for the butter to melt.”

Well you didn’t mention the eggs which are getting cold.

    Its all in the planning.

Project: Two pieces of buttered toast and easy over eggs served up warm.

    Process:

1/ Get a small pan and plate ready with two eggs and two slices of bread.

2/ Start the gas under the pan on high.

3/ Put the bread in the toaster and start – Medium brown.

4/ Get three pats of butter ready to be deployed.

5/ One pat goes in the heated pan and the other two standby for the toast.

6/ Swirl the butter in the pan and crack the eggs in gently reduce to low heat (You want the egg whites to start to set quickly and the yolk will stay cool which is why the pan was first on high.)

7/ By now the two slices of toast pop out, place each pat on the center of each slice of toast.

8/ The eggs are now ready to flip.

9/ The butter has softened enough to spread on the toast, cut and put on the plate. (Option: the plate could be warmed in the oven before hand)

10/ The eggs are flipped back right way up and put on the plate.

    Enjoy :)

Can’t tell I worked in manufacturing for 30 years huh?

    Cheers

  5. I have to remember to re-read everything carefully and not get caught up in the excitement of new toasters. I thought this was available at Target based on the headline “Transparent Toaster Invented”.

So let’s see. I just read an article on here about how america is now just about broke, and now there’s an article about a $75 toaster? I’m just saying…

Good point and just where is the iToaster made?
