The South Carolina Democratic Party broke its own turnout record in Saturday’s presidential primary and eclipsed the number of ballots cast by residents in the Republican primary the week before.

With 99 percent of precincts reporting, more than 532,000 votes had been tabulated in Barack Obama’s commanding victory here. The returns easily eclipsed the 280,000 people who voted in the Democratic primary in 2004.

Last week, about 446,000 voters took part in the Republican primary, which was nearly 120,000 off the record set by the GOP in 2000.

Uh-huh.

Listening to MikeN is like deja view of the 1990s all over again.

This week it’s the “Barrett Report” that is going to break loose and expose the Clintons!

When that turns out to be a Whole Lotta Nothin’ they forget all about it and go on to some other scandalous charges. They went on like that for EIGHT SOLID YEARS and the best they could do was a lie about a blow job.

  2. Perry Noiya says:

The drop in Republicans could be because they became Democrats for a day. (Cross over voting.) The chance to vote against Hillary was too good to pass up.

  3. DeLeMa says:

#22 – Hmmm..You may be on to something there..?
I think I understand ECA ? You saying the Independents didn’t show because they’re still disenfranchised by the voting laws in SC ??
We can’t(ex-Dem here) vote for anyone but the Repugnant or Dumbocretin here until the general election but, I *believe* we can put our choice on the ballot during the prelims.
I really like Ron Paul but, I suppose Obama will have to do ?
If it weren’t for the fact I can probably make a living from my garden, I’d immgrate to Russia, I hear their version of the Mafia is lucrative and hiring..
    (it’s a t.i.c guys, only a t.i.c.)

  4. JPV says:

The joke, known as Democracy, seems to be working as planned.

Just like a dog chasing it’s own tail, fat, stupid and lazy Americans get pissed off at one corporate owned criminal party and then vote for a candidate in the other corporate owned criminal party.

The corporate status quo is maintained and a real coup, such as a third party candidate being elected, is averted.

Divide and conquer… that’s the name of the game.

  5. JPV says:

I don’t know about you. but I am desperate to get rid of these clown in or so called ‘government’.

    Throw the bums out.

    —–

LOL… and put new bums in. So what?

    It’s all a joke anyway.

“They went on like that for EIGHT SOLID YEARS and the best they could do was a lie about a blow job.’
I don’t think the blow job was a lie. I really believe it happend. I maybe wrong but I think Bill got disbared for something. Might have been a lie.

  7. Rabble Rouser says:

Not only in South Carolina, but in every primary so far, Democrats have turned out more voters that Republicans.

No surprise to me. The Republicans, have two of the oldest men in politics running, Willard, St. Rudy of 9/11, a sleeping actor, and a Huckleberry.

The choices for Democrats are much better. The difference between the two leading candidates is not much, and it seems that the only candidate who is actually saying anything different, is in third. The ones who have actually done anything against the current administration, have dropped out to continue to do the work of WE THE PEOPLE.

  8. MikeN says:

Yeah I guess Mike Huckabee became governor when the Lieutenant Governor resigned about a lie about a blowjob. Those FBI files on prominent republicans being in the White House, just a lie about a blowjob, and you wouldn’t care if Dick Cheney did the same thing. Those missing emails and hard disk wipes, you wouldn’t care if the Republicans did the same thing…Oh wait.

  9. MikeN says:

Then again I think Nixon’s real crime wasn’t watergate but his sending the IRS after political enemies.

  10. GregA says:

    #26,

That doesn’t change the fact that Paula Jones, never actually met Bill Clinton, and that her whole lawsuit was based upon a lie. And David Brock and every one else involved has since confirmed, Paula Jones never actually met Bill Clinton.

I mean, even Ken Star has admitted the whole thing was about politics, and little to do with law or facts.

Which by the way, he was never actually disbarred… He had his law license suspended, which is not disbarment.

So you have proven, you don’t even have the minimal facts right on the case, so why do we care what you say about it again? Oh I don’t, and neither does America.

  11. Rick Cain says:

Democrats always outnumber Republicans, but the Republicans have always managed to convince Democrats that “voting doesn’t matter”. As a result, during the elections the GOP faithful vote like clockwork while Democrats stay home and gripe about the country.

If only the Dems would put down the crack pipes, marijuana ciggies and TV remotes and do their duty, our country wouldn’t be broke right now.
