Menace to Society

Martha Stewart banned from Britain — Here’s a country that is stocked with radicals and terrorists but Martha Stewart is a threat to society. Once again the Brits show what utter a-holes they have become by letting their own idiot bureaucrats push them around.

A UK Border Agency spokesman said, “We continue to oppose the entry to the UK of individuals where we believe their presence in the United Kingdom is not conducive to the public good or where they have been found guilty of serious criminal offences abroad.”

This is not the first time in recent years that celebs have been banned from Britain for potentially being a threat to the public. In 2007, Snoop Dog was denied access to the UK for the second time in less than a year. Looks like Martha’s now in the same boat as Snoop.

In fact this whole situation amounts to USA “exit controls” similar to those imposed by the Soviet Union and the fascist countries in the 1930′s. No fly lists, required passenger manifests and other computerized systems are all designed as a de facto “exit control” system to keep people from leaving the country when they want to.

Look on the bright side, I just read somewhere that Christianity will be dead in Britain given a bunch of years, so at least we’ll be atheist a-holes and not religious ones.

Yup, as the relic known as the Church of England becomes ever more marginalised, at least our a-holitude will be a better quality a-holitude.

  2. Jägermeister says:

At least she didn’t have to get fingerprinted or harassed like an Arab.

  3. timesink says:

JC, are you telling us that I can get a US visa if i have a criminal conviction? I suspect you are just ashamed of your own political and judicial system. One that goes after people like Martha whilst the real criminals running the place go scot-free.

  4. bobbo says:

In my opinion, Martha Stewart should be excluded just as any other four count felon. Why the concern, other than rich white people should get a break?

Martha is the worst. She was already rich but wanted to take just a bit more from all the smaller investors. She is even richer today and can travel just about anywhere in the world, but not to Britain this year. Boo Hoo.

Didn’t we do pretty much the same on less pretext with John Lennon? If you can’t do the time, and the consequences, don’t do the crime. Same for Snoop by the way.

  5. pedro says:

Refreshing to learn that the Brits feel the same way I do about her

  6. edwinrogers says:

    Who is Martha Stewart?

  7. The Pirate says:

I’m pretty sure the Brits are scared Martha will make the food taste better.

  8. sirfelix says:

I have committed no crimes and I can’t get into the UK either. Oh wait, maybe thats because I’m living below the poverty level in the richest country in the world.

  9. chrisb says:

This is fairly common in both directions. The US has denied lots of performers for drug convictions and the like. Canada is probably the most strict when it comes to entry, but has a clear path to be allowed entry. I’m pretty sure that the UK has similar processes in place.

  10. Adam Bowie says:

Well it looks to me that if I’d been convicted as Stewart had been as a UK citizen, it’s touch and go whether I could ever go to the US!

I’m no lawyer, so I don’t know if her crime was one of “moral turpitude” but a general rule of thumb is that if you go to prison, lots of countries won’t let you visit.

  11. brian t says:

This is rich, coming just a few years after the US diverted an incoming plane to Maine, because the artist formerly known an Cat Stevens was on board. His crime? Being a well-known covert to Islam.

  12. brian t says:

“covert”? No, he’s quite open about being a convert to Islam. Get thee behind me, Sigmund!

  13. Grimbo says:

Unsurprisingly for an anti-UK site like yours, you seem to have posted this without checking the facts.

US laws are actually much worse than those of the UKs in this respect.

Anyone who has EVER had ANY kind of conviction in the UK has to be interviewed before they are allowed into the States (and are quite likely to be refused entry on an ad-hoc and arbitrary basis on the whim of the interviewer).

  14. catfud says:

Ahh, John’s just pissed because shes gotta stay in the USA, and can’t say I blame him.

An a-hole Britain and proud of it.

  15. rathole says:

I think they’re afraid we won’t let them come back to the USA once they leave and the Brits will be stuck with them. Did they ever let em&em come back?

  16. jeroen says:

then who are the utter A-holes that get EVERYBODY cavity-searched when they enter their country!
    pot vs kettle

  17. chuck says:

Is there any way we can get Martha Stewart banned from the U.S. ?

  18. MikeN says:

Given their bad teeth, they were probably scared of what she would say.

  19. Jägermeister says:

    #17 – chuck

Put her name on the list over known terrorist.

  20. Jägermeister says:

    #19 – Damn… terrorists
