ST. LOUIS – Talk radio host Rush Limbaugh said if the St. Louis Rams came up for sale, he might be interested in buying the team.
Rush Limbaugh Limbaugh told KMOX radio in St. Louis that NFL ownership is a “billionaire’s club.” He said he’s not part of that club, but is in good financial shape.
Limbaugh said any move he makes would be a business decision, and not based on his ties to the region. Limbaugh is from Cape Girardeau, Mo.
“The worst thing that could happen is for a fan to buy the team,” he said. “When I say this to people, they say, ‘That’s crazy, it would be fun.’ It’s a billion-dollar business.”
The Rams owners have said the team is not for sale, but there has been speculation they could be swayed by the right offer. Longtime owner Georgia Frontiere died earlier this year. Her children are majority owners.

James Hill,
Nice try, hack.
as for your schoolgirl exuberance over the percentages and potential for the team…. Aren’t they going back to LA? St Louis has two things going of it; crime and a lousy arch.
#21 “Aren’t they going back to LA?”
For the last 10 years…
Maybe Rush could buy the Rams and move them to Florida…at least then Florida would have ONE decent NFL team….
Rush loves to remind his listeners that he is a big Steelers fan. I guess since there’s not much trading this won’t matter as much.
Rush would have made for a great Monday Night Football analyst, the second comind of Howard Cosell.
#11, Rush wasn’t right in his McNabb comments, since if the media was just trying to promote a black quarterback, then Steve McNair should have been getting more press.
#16, nailed it
and Keith was a first class sportscaster.
It would be super if Rush bought the Washington Redskins. It would put Rush right in the middle of D.C. and drive the liberal pols absolutely nuts.
16,
I think they listen to him for HUMOR, more then TRUTH, FACT, or any other reasoning.
He’s going to need another job after liberals get thru banning him under Pres Obama, all in the name of free speech.
Right you are MikeN. But he will still have his internet site.
I think it would be great! You guys have no idea as to the meaning of fun. What else do the RAMs have going for them. Heck, he should buy the Niners.
John I think your right. No matter how you feel about his politics he is entertaining. It is like watching a slow motion train wreck.I always thought this picture of him looked like he has a large brown penis in his mouth. The N.Y. times had an article about him and his new 400 million dollar contract. It was very apparent that the author was impressed by the man.
If he bought the team, I wonder if its favorite play would be the “Run Right 57″.
Rush reminds me of an “angry drunk” Imus. Go find something else to do fatty
Limbaugh’s caricature of himself as a man with a “big cigar” just reminds me of when he got caught in 2006 with Viagra that didn’t have his name on the container. [Limbaugh] added, chuckling: “I had a great time in the Dominican Republic. Wish I could tell you about it.”
The Viagra incident was in violation of his probation from getting caught with the illegally obtained OxyContin. Limbaugh once said on his short-lived television show, “Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. … And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up.”
This blowhard is also divorced three times — another example of a hypocritical public figure with “do as I say, not as I do” family values.
He’s flamboyant alright, but as an unabashed divider and not a uniter, I don’t think he’s the kind of guy who would serve the league well as a team owner.
Rush should realize that just because the team’s name is the Rams, does not mean that they are into buggery!
Why is it that every picture I see of Limbaugh, he has the equivalent of a large brown penis in his mouth?
#31 Funny, no doubt about it. Bad for football, absolutely. Richard Nixon would have made a better owner.
Anyone who says they’ll stop being a rams fan if Rush were to buy the team, you’re all idiots, take a lap. Are you seriously going to stop supporting your nfl team just because of a shift in ownership to someone who has had past issues with drugs/espn, and resolved them? Just grow up and watch the damn game.
well, if rush wants to do it, what the hell let him do it. there are worse things in the world he could do. but i have to admit, maybe he should start with an arena league team first and then make his way up to the nfl. heck, bon jovi is looking like a decent owner after his philly arena league team won their 2nd title in a row. and the profit margins are better for arena league than for the nfl, last i knew.
