I posted it because it’s a developing story that cannot be ignored, period. It’s a blog. This is what blogs do. AND note, I did not give the story credibility and looked at it from a meta perspective. So give me a break.

And, yes, the “stick to tech” argument is lame. This is not the New York Times. We have no influence over public opinion. All we do is try and keep people abreast of crazy stories and other weirdness they might be confronted with. This story just seemed odd enough to qualify and I am the only one who suggests it may be a Republican ploy.

And I can spot a story with legs. Trust me on this.

A friend of mine in Alaska says this rumor has been going on up there for months, but no one has yet to get any solid evidence.

This story has been out there for four months. I don’t see how Obama’s camp can be blamed for it. I don’t think there is any way they could have thought four months ago that she would be the VP pick. That is why I think John’s plant story has some merit. The other possibility, she has made a lot of politicians in Alaska mad, including her own party.

When she announced her pregnancy in March, Fox News said she didn’t look seven months pregnant. She did a Vogue layout in December, when she would have been five months pregnant, but didn’t mention it. She went into labor in Texas but got on a plane and flew home to Alaska before giving birth. The attendants on the flight said she did not look pregnant and did not ask for any special assistance. Even though she was supposedly in labor. Something smells awfully fishy.

I am about as liberal as they come. I am very invested in having a democrat in the white house and I must confess that I do not care if it requires dirty tricks to make it happen. That all said, I was poking around some right wing blogs this afternoon to see what they had to say about the choice of Palin for VP. From there I was linked to a string of blogs that rather convincingly connected some smears to an official Obama web site. Of course they as outraged as I get when ever I see evidence of them doing the same to him.

Well the story sounds true, and really it can’t be proven either way.

Even if I thought it were true other than pure slander I wouldn’t consider it an issue.

Kids make mistakes and parents clean up after them if they can.

Odds of a teenage girl having a kid with downs, next to nil. An older woman having a kid with downs, pretty good, which is why they test for it. I’ll be shocked if this rumor is true.

This story is really intriguing. The republicans lied us into a war. Isn’t it possible that this republican could lie about pregnancy?

Consider this: Would a 44-year-old woman with four kids out of diapers, embarking on her first governorship, really get pregnant? Or would a 17-year-old, living in a small Alaska town with conservative parents who didn’t tell her about condoms, starting fooling around and accidentally get knocked up?

You can find news reports that Palin gave a 30-minute speech in TX AFTER her water broke and then flew home to AK. Ummm… if my water broke, I’d want to go to the closest hospital.

It’s probably not true, but if it is, the three things that would bother me the most about it:
1)Did she force her 16 yaer oild to carry a special needs baby to term and then take it away from her for political reasons;
2) Frequent, repeated lying about the birth;
3) Her holding Trig up politically as evidence of her her commitment to the Right To life movement.

But it’s probably just deliciously evil untrue speculation. The truth is likely that she just decided to get on a 12 hour flight with amniotic fluid running down her legs and a Down syndrome baby being born a month before her due date and her not informing the airline. That’s exactly the sort of 3 am decision making I’m looking for in a VP candidate.

Even if the reported TRUE story is the right one, that type of behavior is not that of someone we need for a VP or President if McCain doesn’t finish his term. If it is her daughters baby she needs to come clean over it and hope the people of her state don’t think bad of her.

This story has been going around in Alaska since the invisible pregnancy was announced a few weeks before the child was born. How could McCain’s people have missed it? Wasn’t she vetted? Palin has been presented as pro-life poster woman for having a Downs Syndrome baby when she could have aborted, but in reality, she was really covering up her daughter’s politically embarrasing pregnancy. (she’s a very strong proponent of abstinence only.)

I don’t want the GOP in office, but I don’t want this to be the reason that they don’t get there. This would be a sensationalistic exploitation of the kids on a National level.

Shouldn’t the story really be: Is VP Sarah Palin married to Commander Ricker from the Starship Enterprise? And does that violate the temporal prime directive?

I looked the relevant case law up and she’s only in trouble if she uses advance knowledge gleaned from their pillow talk to make a killing on the stock market. There are subclauses in there about revealing the ending to the Battlestar Galactica season 4 finale before next summer but those are kind of murky.

Look at the baby bump on Bristol, she is clearly pregnant!

The photo caption, missing from this hatchet job, says it was taken in summer of 2006. Governor Palin’s baby was born in March of 2008. Do you need this explained to you or did you stay awake through Health Science classes in high school?

This thought crossed my mind as well. If true, it explains the kid having Down Syndrome. But then again, the risk of Down Syndrome increases with maternal age. DNA tests would clear the issue of who the parents of the kid really are.

Palin is going to be the Tom Eagleton of the GOP.

There are lingering doubts about the story she is telling about the birth of her latest child, who has Down’s Syndrome, and who was reportedly born a month prematurely. In reality, it wasn’t Palin herself who had that child, it was her 16 year old daughter.

Palin didn’t announce that she was preggers to her staffers for several months even though nothing sells in politics, especially in winger land, like motherhood.

Then eight months pregnant, she says, she flew to an energy conference in Texas, where, during the night, she started leaking amniotic fluid. Her water broke and even though she supposedly knew that the baby was going to have Down’s Syndrome, which also brings with it possible severe complications, she made the speech and then, after getting the okay to FLY FOR 12 HOURS BACK TO ALASKA despite the threat of sepsis, which could have killed both her and the child, she landed in Seattle, talked to the physician, who said it was okay for her to make her connecting flight back to Alaska.

She arrived in Alaska and gave birth the next morning.

Now my mother is a former pediatric nurse (retired in 2000 after about 30 years on the job) and she told me this story is “fishier than tuna” and finds it “unbelievable” that a physician would allow her to get back on a plane rather than urging her to immediately seek medical attention. At the very least, Palin acted negligently and my mother thinks that the physician did not tell her to get on that plane.

Here is likely what really happened:

At 4 a.m. Texas time, she gets a cellphone call that her daughter’s water had broken. Palin had to keep the story congruent with what was happening to her daughter, so she told everyone her water had broken when that was not the case. She called her daughter’s physician before she got on the plane and flew to Seattle and then called him again before flying on home. The daughter gave birth the next morning.

Oh, I didn’t mention one thing: Palin’s daughter had been pulled out of school five months before she gave birth, ostensibly for “mono.” In a lot of neighborhoods in America, “mono” is a code word for “I got knocked up” or “I did some time in a correctional facility” among juveniles. How convenient.

Palin had to maintain this charade because she didn’t want her Christian Right followers to know that her daughter had given birth out of wedlock and sinned. She has thus lied to the media and the American people and she will be greeted like Linda Smith (the murderer) by her evangelical following, who she also lied to, if she is found out.

The selection of her by McCain also follows a pattern of behavior. He has always been highly impulsive, his native impatience marked by his refusal, for example, to read flight manuals while he was in the Navy. He was protected by his father, a big shot admiral, and could get away with it. He womanized like it was going out of style and crashed at least four airplaces (millions in taxpayer money, also making him a worse pilot turned pol than Bob Dornan) before he was shot down by the North Vietnamese. But even there, he was treated relatively gently compared to the treatment meted out to other and lesser known prisoners.

His first wife saw him through his convalescence and then he jumped into an affair with his current wife. His impulsiveness raised its head again after meeting Palin just once before naming her his VP nominee.

Once she is found out and forced to step down, that will make McCain’s presidential bid a Campaign to Nowhere. Neither of these two has the integrity to be the leader of the free world. And the above demonstrates that amply.

As for the physician, who has backed up Palin’s story, there are one of either two motives at work here: one, he or the medical group he might be a part of didn’t want to lose a high powered client or possible further state business. It will be interesting to see if any Alaska state money ends up in this guy’s bank account for state-related things other than treating Palin.

Secondly, he could want to be the next Bill Frist and run for office and Palin’s connections could help him a lot there.

Whatever the case, both her and he are lying, I believe.

Maybe my personal feelings about this are off base but this story doesn’t bother me. Her crazy views on gay rights and teaching religion in biology class does bother me. Her possible involvement in the firing of her ex brother in law would bother me.

Because of the political climate in the US she would feel a need to lie. Just like Bill Clinton felt a need to lie.

Children not only learn what they live, they live what they learn. This child apparently has been given the responsibility of parenting her sibling as her mother’s responsibility of politics overshadows her own parenting responsibility. Bristol Palin should have no qualms about becoming a parent to her own biological child as her responsibilities for her brother(?) Trig, which should have been her mother’s responsibility, makes it alright for her to be a parent instead of being a teen.

A mother who states that she is proud to be a grandparent when her teen daughter is pregnant, is in denial that something went wrong. It appears that she endorses the premature marriage of this young couple. Statistics show that young marriages tend to end up in divorce. Really, the values of family are muddled in politics.

Sure her mother is anti-abortion, but being pro-responsibility is a stronger value, as that includes prevention (including abstinence as an option) and responsible decision making. When this value is upheld, the issue of abortion is moot. What do pro-life groups do beyond protesting abortion and encouraging the destruction of family planning clinics and physicians. Regarding the parents who are not ready, willing or able to support and parent their children and end up abusing or neglecting their children, how much energy is placed by pro life people on the care of these existing lives. Leave it to the government? I suppose if that is the case, then the government should control the morals and individual rights of citizens.

Mom did have an abortion but it was my older brother. Birth defect and with another brother dying at one year of age, she didn’t want to face another sick child. So, had she not aborted my brother, I wouldn’t be here.

If she was faced with the same decision, she would make it the same, and be sad the same.
