What is “prayer” except trying to change God’s mind? Seems sacrilegious to me for anything other but giving thanks for whatever miserable existence fate hands you.

And why are the people oppressed 35 miles to the West of New Orleans less deserving of God changing his mind than the good folks of New Orleans itself==or is it just a numbers game?

The problem happens like this.
If you get SLAPPED for saying the wrong thing once, WHY OPEN your mouth a second time and SAY THE SAME THING.
The LOW lands of the area were developed for the POOR. the OLD town was on the SOLID HIGH GROUND, which the OLD FOLK KNEW was safe.
WHO isnt a God fearing person, with a LITTLE BIT of intelligence?
You PRAY, that Nature WONT do something…IT WAS SUPPOSED to do.
That is like building on a CLIFF, and praying they it WONT FALL. Given enough TIME, IT WILL FALL.
You might as well pray for your HOUSE BOAT not to spring a LEAK..
If you dont take care of it, If you dont Patch it correctly, IF you dont Anchor it properly, IF you dont listen to the MAJOR storm warnings…IT WILL SINK.

Other than New Orleans, I never said that anyone should not live anywhere. What I said was that I don’t feel sympathy for their choices.

For example, I don’t feel sympathy for someone who buys an SUV and then complains about the cost of gas. I don’t feel sympathy for someone who has a bunch of kids and then complains about having too many kids. I don’t feel sympathy for someone who never attempted to improve himself and then complains that he’s stuck in a dead end job.

So if you live in tornado alley and your house is destroyed by a tornado, what the frick did you expect to happen? I live in Michigan, but I don’t complain about the snow. I’d much rather plow my driveway than mow my lawn any day.

Of course New Orleans is different because it’s both a flood plain and a hurricane zone. People should not live there. They should get rid of the levees and let the gulf do its work. There are plenty of drier places in which a city could be built. There is no point it building it under sea level right next to the Gulf.

and the REALITY of it is that there is NOTHING they can do until TUESDAY..

BEFORE monday.

MONDAY is going to be VERY VERY WET.
No one will be able to get into the area for AT LEAST 1 day…
Even monday night..will only give information on DAMAGE, they cant deal with it UNTIL TUESDAY..

So….
it has to be Football monday, and the 3 day weekend.

Can I ask,
WHAT the GOP is going to be able to do, that they decide NOT to have most of the first day??

ITS in Michigan, NOT down south..
Even if they are part of the Gov, that is SUPPOSED to respond. What can they do, BEFORE its over??

2 things I see.
There are ALOT of electoral votes DOWN in that area. And they want THOSE people UP NORTH, insted of worrying about the storm.
