Versus TV is offering next-day coverage in the U.S.. On DirecTV, showings are at 3:30PM EST, repeats later in the evening.

I record it on the DVR and – in a motorhead family like mine – we all gather round after supper to watch the rally.

Motorcycles….yuck! Extremely noisy personal transportation for those with too many tatoos, nasty hair and beards, who don’t mind (or wouldn’t notice) their brains spewed out of their heads.

Why ‘Dakar’? It won’t end up, or even pass, Dakar… It used to start in Paris, then some place in Spain (Madrid?), then Lisbon, but usually ended up in Dakar, hence the name. But this year?

It doesn’t blend…

The African rally was cancelled due to terror threats, so it was moved to a Argentina -> Chile -> Argentina route this year.
The interest level at the start in Bs. As. was huge as there is a long history of motorsport and rally competition in Argentina. Before he became 5 time F1 World Champion, J.M. Fangio raced in many endurance rallies like Bs. As.to Caracas and Bs. As. to Lima.
