Yep… Definitely Terrorists

COLUMBIA, Mo. | A new document meant to help Missouri law enforcement agencies identify militia members or domestic terrorists has drawn criticism for some of the warning signs mentioned.
The Feb. 20 report called “The Modern Militia Movement” mentions such red flags as political bumper stickers for third-party candidates, such as U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, who ran for president last year; talk of conspiracy theories, such as the plan for a superhighway linking Canada to Mexico; and possession of subversive literature.
“It seems like they want to stifle political thought,” said Roger Webb, president of the University of Missouri campus Libertarians. “There are a lot of third parties out there, and none of them express any violence. In fact, if you join the Libertarian Party, one of the things you sign in your membership application is that you don’t support violence as a means to any ends.” But state law enforcement officials said the report is being misinterpreted.
Lt. John Hotz of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said the report comes from publicly available, trend data on militias.
“All this is an educational thing,” Hotz said of the report. “Troopers have been shot by members of groups, so it’s our job to let law enforcement officers know what the trends are in the modern militia movement.”
But Tim Neal, a military veteran and delegate to last year’s state GOP convention, was shocked by the report’s contents.
“I was going down the list and thinking, ‘Check, that’s me,’” he said. “I’m a Ron Paul supporter, check. I talk about the North American union, check. I’ve got the ‘America: Freedom to Fascism’ video loaned out to somebody right now. So that means I’m a domestic terrorist? Because I’ve got a video about the Federal Reserve?” Neal, who has a Ron Paul bumper sticker on his car, said the next time he is pulled over by a police officer, he won’t know whether it’s because he was speeding or because of his political views.
“If a police officer is pulling me over with my family in the car and he sees a bumper sticker on my vehicle that has been specifically identified as one that an extremist would have in their vehicle, the guy is probably going to be pretty apprehensive and not thinking in a rational manner,” Neal said. “And this guy’s walking up to my vehicle with a gun.”

George said “in his town”, not anywhere else.
He didn’t sound racist, he sounded like he knew the facts as they relate to his town, not a Google search.
U.S. Government celebrates one millionth member of terrorist watch list
WASHINGTON – The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Center celebrated a major milestone last week when the nation’s terrorist watch list reached one million members.
To mark the event, the FBI and the ODNI are planning celebrations and media events throughout the remainder of the year, including commemorative memorabilia, such as stationery, coffee cups and apparel, and highly visible signage at airports and border crossings that will center around the program’s new tagline: The U.S. Terrorist Watch List: One Million Strong … and Growing …

Put a police union sticker on your car. No Tickets !!
so would they put a lamp post on the watch list if it had a ron paul sticker on it? Because that is usually where I see Rp stickers.

If they really want to waste time studying dangerous people’s automotive decorations, they really should investigate the link between aggressive drivers and the “truck balls” hanging from the rear bumper, and leave the Libertarians alone.
Ron Paul is a racist psycho and his fans are paranoid mouth-breathing morons, but this is way too much. Shame on Missouri.
I think the cops would be well advised to go with number 19 and for God’s sake be careful when dealing with domestic disputes!
I was thinking about reading Hitler’s and Linen’s works just to see how they matched up with what’s coming out of Washington D.C.
If I do no doubt that will be put into the government data base and held against me.
#27. Well said….coming from a knuckle dragging piece of shit.
I read Ron Paul’s wiki today. He takes some stands that are very un-Libertarian, such as being strongly anti-abortion.
That’s because he’s an obstetrician by trade.
@11
Exactly what I was thinking. I do recall voting for Ron Paul in the republican primary last year. If Ron Paul was a “third party candidate” he wouldn’t have appeared on my ballot. This must be something new, even to Ron Paul. Did he recently switch parties, or what?
lol…some people crack me up..
“Oh yeah, this kind of profiling is ok”
-ha!
idiots.
it wont be 12-16 months before they create
cybercops and start profiling blogs for *radicals*
*everyone* in here is going to be on The List, no matter if your white, black or plaid and have no bumper to put a sticker on.
you all know very well that the language
and sentiment that we sling at each other
in here gets down right abrasive and ugly
if only because we are passionate and
believe in our respective ideologies or ideals, misguided or not. (and have
a sense of humour)
-now, do what politicians and mainstream
media do and take a few of our more heated
threads on DU out of context and plaster
them all over the news.. -they’d lambaste
us and make us look like a bunch of raving madman.
no doubt in the court of the naive and gullible public opinion, we’d be found guilty “because you cant be too careful with those vocal types”
anyone who has even slept through a
historical documentary should know that
this is setting a dangerous precedent.
since when are there no “dangerous radicals” that are dedicated to the two *MAIN* parties?
-what? -in all of history there have been no mainstream piece activist or anti-abortion nut that never attacked someone or blew something up to preserve liberal or conservative values?
-right.
ok, everyone just bend over and let the Police State slide right in. don’t worry, it wont hurt a bit.
it’s a very simple trap.
absurd. completely absurd.

turn off your TV
It’s always “OK” to profile the “other people”.
I read the whole document when it first came out. The emailing lists I’m on got the thing almost before the actual cops got it.
The first thought that came to mind was, “Crap, I’m on double-secret probation!”
#30, “I read Ron Paul’s wiki today. He takes some stands that are very un-Libertarian, such as being strongly anti-abortion.”
Abortion might not be the best topic to judge libertarian beliefs with as it depends on definitions. If you view abortion as committing an act of violence against another human being, than being opposed to abortion is very libertarian.
#1 bobbo – Hey moron… Timothy McVeigh was a republican. You should investigate more before you start crapping out your mouth.
#37, chuck, what do either bobbo or Timothy McVeigh have to do with post #1?
#37, Chucky,
Hey moran, get a brain.
First, Bobbo did not have post #1. That would have been our very own Lyin’ Mike. Not too bright, listens to Boss Limpdick too much, aggrevating, but the only reference I saw close to Liebertarians was his comment about pedophiles.
Bobbo did post #2. Again, nothing about Timothy McVeigh in that post OR Liebertarians.
So the only thing I can see would be you mistakenly used Bobbo’s name to attack Lyin’ Mikes comment about pedophiles. So I asked my self,
“Hey self, why would Chucky be so touchy about pedophiles?”
Then I understood. It isn’t as innocuous as it seems. It is actually part of the initiation rights to become a member of the Leibertarian Party.
First they came for the skinhead neo-nazis, and I did not speak out–
because I had just shaved my head to impress a girl and thought they might take me, too;
Then they came for the right-wing nutjobs, and I did not speak out–
because I only watch O’Reilly for the bloopers;
Then they came for every member of DailyKos.com, and I did not speak out–
because I was busy making a Keith Olbermann mashup for YouTube;
Then they came for the tech geeks, and I did not speak out–
because they were targeting gamers and I’m more of a systems guy;
Then they came for me–
and the ruggedized laptop in the patrol car couldn’t book me because the cop had gotten Koobface from Facebook and was too busy sending Viagra spam to everyone who was already in jail.
