    Actually, Rick, the hamburger may be just about the only truly American food. There are several disputed claims to having invented it but I believe ALL of them are from the USA. One of the claimants was from Hamburg, Connecticut not Hamburg, Germany. My momma done tole me, after WWII because of the resentment towards Germany, people tried to rename the hamburger – to Salisbury Steak!
