#160 Recent events cheer me some…MSNBC doing a critical piece on Obama is a paradigm shift…and Senators voting against funding Gitmo is also…

Until now, these were all “yes we can” loons…

Perhaps as the Jedi mind spell wears off, the Democrats will reverse their ruinous budget before its too late.

    We can hope.

Don’t oral contraceptives inhibit ovulation? I hate to be a wikipedia cut-and-paster, but the article on oral contraceptives says:

“[scientists] conclude that endometrial changes are unlikely to play an important role, if any, in the observed effectiveness of COCPs”

“Guess you’ll have to redefine life again…”

I’m not sure why you’d think this.

  3. Honky Doodle says:

    # 40, You hit the nail squarely with the truth hammer. POWs are just that, and until there is an armistice with a peace treaty signed and ratified, these non uniformed soldiers of the radical Moslem ilk should remain in camps, period, full stop!
Now, as a Canadian, I find it unacceptable that a captured piece of Cuba is retained for this purpose. In WW2 we interned many POWs in both of our countries with few escapees, and in fact used them to perform work to maintain their bodies and souls plus earn their upkeep.

I would prefer to see these radical detainees housed in an Arctic Island detention environment. Freezing their asses off while trying to avoid hungry Polar Bears would be a great lesson in why you should respect your fellow humans, but no, your stupid bugger mentality prevents true justice.
The only inquiry needed is that which proves the detainee is in fact a member of the radical Islamist Sect(s) demanding death to all Infidels, ie. non Islamics. Just because they do not wear a uniform with insignia, rank, and decorations does not exclude them from permanent detention during a war that they themselves declared. They should be thankful that they were not evaporated in a bloody great mushroom cloud! [which they damn well should have been]

#162–brm==I’d like to hear your nuanced argument for why abortion of fetuses after implantation is wrong, but one second before that it is ok.

If you google, you can google Roe v Wade. You sound like you would understand its excellent review of the terminology, science, morals, and history of the abortion/life debate.

Now I think Nimby did clearly say Contraceptives had nothing to do with ovulation although there could be some minor issues? But I think he was reading too fast and confused you with Mustard who also no doubt would enjoy reading your nuanced position.

I’m off to read about contraceptives. Why I don’t know.

  5. bobbo says:

As usual, what any word/concept does/means is based on what specifically one is talking about.

There are many different types/ingredients in contraception pills that do different things to different degrees. I’ll bet when Nimby got his license, OC were mostly what he said above. You have to stay up on your literature and give a shit to keep up with new modalities.

Still, I’m with Nimby as far as “which statement is most correct.”

  6. noname says:

How and Why did this thread get hijacked from being about Obama’s gitmo reversal to abortion, contraception….

    # 41 Traaxx # 43 Mister Mustard start you own thread and leave this one to Obama’s gitmo reversal.

As # 143 John C Dvorak points out this thread has become hijacked by tin foiled hat nuts.

  7. mr show says:

    #163 That’s a pretty interesting plan.

My plan would have been too radical and possibly cruel and unusual punishment. That is, close Gitmo and make the detainees live with a member of congress. The congressperson would be obligated to feed the detainee and do his laundry.

To make it more interesting, I would allow the detainee to pick his host congressperson. I wonder who would be most popular?

quit highlighting the sysop’s name in orange, ya brown-nosing bastard.

  9. noname says:

Yes my noise is brown # 169 Mister Mustard, but no I am not highlighting sysop’s name in orange. This blog is set up to do that automatically. The blog also pages John C Dvorak each time.

    John C Dvorak
    John C Dvorak
    John C Dvorak
    John C Dvorak
    John C Dvorak

  10. #170 – noname

Ah, very clever. Set up to automatically highlight the name of Mr. Dvorak in orange. Now THAT’S a novel feature. One might think it would be more useful to set the blog up to automatically handle standard-format URLs properly, but I guess not.

The orange highlighting IS very festive. Reminiscent of Halloween, pumpkins, frosty nights and hot cider. The internet is truly a magical thing.

  11. noname says:

    # 171 Mister Mustard,

“The orange highlighting IS very festive. Reminiscent of Halloween, pumpkins, frosty nights and hot cider. The internet is truly a magical thing.”

I’ll let you in on a little secret, John C Dvorak is the “great pumpkin”; hence the orange and white.

  12. Alfred1 says:

Its not a stretch Obama start detaining some of you tin foil hat wearers prolongly, just to see what happens.

  13. Ralph, the Bus Driver says:

    #156, noname

Yes, you are correct. Although Bush attended Yale for his degree, he did go to Harvard for his MBA.

Rumor has it though, he was AWOL through most of his classes but since his daddy was a former Congressman and then President of the Republican National Committee, he was given his degree anyway.

  14. Patrick says:

    # 174 Ralph, the Bus Driver said, “Rumor has it though,…”

And, rumor has it that the reason Obama won’t release his school records is because they show low performance… Yep.

  15. Ralph, the Bus Driver says:

    #160, noname,

And exactly what was your point? As I read it, only those who have served have the right to voice any objection to Obama?

Well look here asshole, I served. 2ndB, 101. I flew a Huey (UH-1). I even have a hole in my leg from where they dug out some metal. Many of my friends didn’t come home like I did. I’m thinking of them today. I’m remembering why they had to die.

Now forget what I just wrote. Those who feel the need to bring up their status usually are the wannabes. That would include you. If you served, you know. But, to write such garbage today, is the height of ignorance.

You sir, are the coward. End of story.

  16. noname says:

    # 176 Ralph, the Bus Driver,

Fuck you, damn redneck bus driver, wanabe. You read me wrong. I object to those who don’t stand up for the constitution. That what you swore to uphold if you indeed served.

  17. #175 – Patrick

    >>And, rumor has it that the reason Obama won’t
    >>release his school records is because they
    >>show low performance… Yep.

What the fuck are you talking about???

I have never heard any gossip about him not releasing his records, nor about him having low grades. I googled it, and STILL don’t find anything, not even on the radical right nutball sites. He graduated from Harvard Law School magna cum laude, fer chrissakes. Are you just jibber jabbering to see your words appear on screen, or what?

The ONLY thing I found in the entire internet universe about records and Obama and failure to release was that the University of Illinois (where he never went) would not release records regarding whatever it was he did with his commie pinko socialist terrorist probably-Muslim pal Bill Ayers. And that’s because the University of Illinois does not own those records, the guy who donated them does.

    More bullshit?

  18. Mr. Fusion says:

    #158, Ayatollah1,

Well, I did give you fair notice.

    *

Humans have 23 chromosomes. Since they are paired, that makes 46 per cell.

    *

The Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776. It was followed by the Articles of Confederation which was drafted after the Declaration of Independence.

The sole purpose of the Declaration of Independence was to sever all ties with Briton and make the colonies independent. It was to justify the rebellion then ongoing and which were to last another four years.

The Constitution of the United States was written a few years later when the problems in the Articles of Confederation became apparent. It wasn’t signed until 1787.

I just have to love the way the far right like to rewrite history to suit their purposes.

BTW, your link above, in #158, doesn’t go to any specific page. I guess that is the best you can do.

  19. Patrick says:

    # 179 Mr. Fusion said, “The Constitution of the United States was written a few years later when the problems in the Articles of Confederation became apparent. It wasn’t signed until 1787.”

I’m glad you looked this up. You should follow up by reading the U.S. Constitution. It is a great document.
