I knew three “IED” bomb makers back in high school. These were not terrorists nor where they killers.

They tended to be smart and poorly socialized

One of them blew up my locker as a weird kind of gesture of friendship! Another guy seriously injured himself.

They needed to be stopped and punished, if approprite, but not jailed for life under anti-terrorism laws.

The one guy I’ve kept in touch with developed into a perfectly law-abiding citizen. I suspect the others did too.
