Perhaps he committed suicide? How about some old whale removal?

Seriously… How many whales does Japan kill every year?

Forget crude! Whale oil is the new thing!

It’s non-toxic, biodegradable, and a renewable resource!

Perfect!!

Most oil spills are natural.

Exxon? Valdez? sounds familiar

# 5 nobrakes said, on June 3rd, 2009 at 5:09 pm

However cruel and inhuman this may be – I don’t think i need to remind anyone that a 200000-400000 ton 300meter vessel cannot stop or turn on a dime. if something like that surfaces that close to ship – there isn’t much they can do about it.
According to the news article i read they were not even sure 1)that that tanker hit it – and 2) that it was even alive when it was struck – assuming that said tanker even hit it.

#3..
?????? Ummmm, NO!

Natural as in, the BOAT SANK?
Natural as in, the Storm destroyed the ship?
Natural as in, the pressure head BLEW OFF?
Natural as in, THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES??
Natural as in, the ship is 40-60 years old and has RUST and LEAKS??

Nature has a way to letting it pour out, NOT SUCKING IT OUT by the SHIP LOAD.

#3 That’s a pretty extraordinary claim.

Dr. Carl Sagan: “Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence”

Do you have the extraordinary evidence to back it up? or are you just bullshitting us?

It happens a lot. I saw a coastal bulk carrier entering our harbor with a dead Minke whale wedged under the bow.

#3 MikeN isn’t too far off. Here is the rundown.

Full of fun facts.

#9 – it was a test of the intelligence of the average DU reader. Smart ones would do a Google search to discover the content. Users of average intelligence might go to Bing or Yahoo. You, uhmm, fall into a third group. But here’s a link to an article for you.

Arn’t you supposed to nuke the whales?

# 13 Zybch said, on June 3rd, 2009 at 9:07 pm

#11 You seriously believe that only smart people use google? Google’s search has become so utterly useless recently and most of its results just dump you sites trying to sell you crap, I rarely use it any more.
Bing actually seems to give me the results I want, and yahoo? Whats that.

# 14 GetSmart said, on June 3rd, 2009 at 9:42 pm

#13 Zybch: Yahoo? What’s that?

Hang on. Lemme Google that Yahoo thingie…

# 15 MikeN said, on June 3rd, 2009 at 9:54 pm

#11, and Fusion would demand that you provide him with a link.

# 16 MikeN said, on June 3rd, 2009 at 9:55 pm

#6, natural as in
SEEPING up from the ocean fLOOr.

Drilling actually reduces this amount of natural oil spill by relieving pressure.

# 17 Bobs Bar said, on June 3rd, 2009 at 10:07 pm

#12, Hugh Ripper, according to the bumper sticker, it’s

“Nuke A Gay Whale For Christ”

so the answer is “maybe.”

# 18 Mr. Fusion said, on June 4th, 2009 at 5:17 am

#16, Lyin’ Mike,

While I don’t doubt oil seepage happens, you have still not given any links as asked by ArianeB in #7.

#10, Ah Yea,

It appears from your link that most oil / petroleum entering the seas are man made.

The headline was total Crap. We have no way to know how this thing died based on what was reported! It may have been dead when it was hit or not. Most whales are alert enough not to let anything large near them because killer whales do eat them. The ones that aren’t may not be all that healthy.

# 20 Alfred1 said, on June 5th, 2009 at 5:56 am

#19 Incredible…no evidence whatsoever the ship and whale collided…none…but Federal Officials have “no doubt” they had an encounter…

Econuts are destroying our economy…the public might wake up when gas is $25 a gallon…but then again, they elected Obama.

# 21 trking said, on June 7th, 2009 at 3:07 am

yes yes.. those poor poor oil companies, it would be faaaar too expensive to investigate, it might very well bankrupt them.

best to just sink the damn thing instead! -shh

This is an interesting take on the concept. I never thought of it that way. I came across this site recently which I think will be of great use http://www.whales.org.za . Check it out!
Big thanks for keeping me entertained.
