OK I’ll admit the ad has wistful music and is creepy but clinical depression is a real problem. I’m not talking about moments we all have that get us down but we bounce back from quickly.
As with any mental problem, it requires constant monitoring to get the medication dosage levels right and it MUST be accompanied by therapy. In many cases, someone will go to hos/her primary care doctor with a problem and it is the primary physician who administers drugs like these. Hopefully in those cases the doctor refers the patient to a counselor but who knows. There are options for those whose insurance doesn’t cover counseling (community mental health professionals who work on a sliding scale of pay).
All in all, in many cases the side effects of psycho-pharmaceuticals are worse than the benefit but it’s the best science has to offer for now. Cold comfort I know to those who have problems or know someone who does.
The poor baby boomers are sad they can’t get it up, have trouble going pee, can’t see or make their own tears, have issues with mobility, have gray hair, no hair, loose dentures, issues with bones or joints and irregularity.
In essence you poor depressed people are getting OLD!
#5 “Under single payer there would be the immediate savings of all the advertising the drug companies do because docs would be prescribing drugs from a protocol, not the bare back of the hot babe pharmacy rep.”
I think you are right. A single-payer would lead to doctors being limited to certain prescription drugs.
Unfortunately, I’m not so sure if this would be an improvement. Because the people who would write the protocol would either be Congress itself, or appointed by Congress. Either way the process would be immediately corrupted by pharma-lobbyists who would simply bribe the appropriate public official to make sure their drugs are on the protocol list.
Or you could eat better and exercise. Naw…just take a pill that f**ks your liver and makes you suicidal. It’s a pill after all! A life solution in 5 seconds!

Reminds me of the Abilify commercial, which even mentioned death as a possible side effect…
One thing that doesn’t seem very right is that depressed people rarely look you in the eye…
What is the point of this post?
Is this an advertizement disguised as a post? Or is it just an anchor for a discussion in No Agenda?
Why are there so many people with depression?

The reason people feel better with Cymbalta is because if they don’t have any of the side effects their ecstatic.
