Real problem is, General Relativity is just as hard to understand. On balance, maybe a meaningless pretty picture isn’t that bad.
Of the two, I prefer this explanation as I don’t understand either and this one gives me something to look at.

For me it has validity. Although i always tell people that really belief in this as a faith. That first of all this is controlled opposition. And second it is not the symbolism that matters but the truth you give to it.
Now i do agree that we need a new time construct that runs with the harmonics of earth and not the Technological Time we have now.
