What the right wingers don’t understand is the image they want to present and the image they do present.
They want us to see them as ordinary Americans just trying to stay afloat and maybe a little ahead of the game. Instead they are being overwhelmed by taxes, big government, and excessive regulations. They are mad, mad as hell, and they’re not going to take it any more!

Try a little experiment. Make a satirical, but not personal, joke about a fundamentalist group. The thinking will go like this:
He’s attacking my religion.
Which means, he’s attacking my faith.
Therefore, he’s attacking me.
It’s always predictable what happens next. Religion doesn’t always imply a church – PETA is a religion just like any other.
