You do know that many folk, like me, have this nagging problem with VISTA …. It won’t install Adobe Flash … thus when you use a flash player for Dvorak Uncensored I cannot listen….. bummer.

How does Facebook know if you have ‘anti-virus’ installed? [McAffee or otherwise?]

  3. deowll says:

Adobe flash is problem on XP. In fact it is a problem period.

I’m going to do a web search on Win 7 and multi-cores.

  4. qb says:

Microsoft started supporting multicore in .NET last fall – it was sort of possible before but not really if you know what I mean. They really recommend Visual Studio 2010 which means the whole thing is still beta.

OpenCL and implementations like Apple’s Grand Central have been in play for year and they are actually pretty easy to write code against.

The reality is that most developers haven’t needed it or aren’t willing to take the time to use it so even though the OS may do the job, your apps are still single threaded.

  6. Killer Duck says:

John, your premise that you can keep your data safe by keeping it on you r own machine instead of the cloud is preposterous. You local hard drive is in no way any safer than the cloud, in fact, its probably less secure. Are you certain you have every possible security setting in windows set correctly? Are you running every possible patch?
Anyone that thinks they have “secured” their PC doesn’t know much about security. There is no 100% safe machine.
