I lived in Seattle, shipped out of there...loved it...great place...

But none of you have objected to its carbon footprint...so many humans live there, exhaling Co2....

I visited your fair city a few weeks ago and the weather was perfect. Here's a skyline view from another angle.

That's Mount Rainier in the background, about 60 miles away.

Visited seattle a bunch of times for work, its am interesting city. Parking is crap though, but most cities are like that to be honest, and I always thought the interstate running along the waterfront was a scenery killer, and noisy to boot.

Finally last time I was their I saw more mopeds that anywhere else in the country. Their was this one pretty girl wearing a skirt and driving a moped.... But that's a story for another day.

Beautiful city, 2nd prettiest city I've ever seen or lived in (current resident). The MOST civic pride and neighborhood/community oriented place I've ever been. I do love Chicago (grew up there) but got tired of the hundred mile stretches of 'dead space' of empty factories, and areas that are a death race to drive through because of violent crime...pretty much the downtown core of Chicago to Gary Indiana.

New York is bigger, so it has more 'stuff' but just as ugly and crime ridden packed with residents who seem to almost resent being there.

Seattle IS a new city. It doesn't have many buildings over 100 years old because it's NOT much over 100 years old. But it's very particular about keeping it's old buildings (check out Pioneer Square). We think about that kind of thing. We stopped the 'condo trend' from tearing down Pike Place Market, which just turned 100, and is the best and one of the largest farmers markets and small (non-chain) retail areas in the country.

Super nice city.

#5 We actually had a considerable quake roll through in 2000 (maybe 2001) and it didn't do much damage at all. Something to do with the type of quakes we have here. Too deep or something, I don't remember the details.

A very typical Pacific coast city. You find these, on every shoreline. Right across the Pacific, from Vladivostok down to Auckland, Lima up to Seattle. No urban history or monumental civic pride, no buildings over 100 years old.

Interesting thoughts..

I hope the LARGER buildings are on BED ROCK..
Can you say EARTH QUAKE??

Just 1 good 6.5 and most of the Downtown area will be in rubble.
