Crucify

RIYADH (Reuters) – A Saudi court of cassation upheld a ruling to behead and crucify a 22-year-old man convicted of raping five children and leaving one of them to die in the desert, newspapers reported on Tuesday.

The convict was arrested earlier this year after a seven-year old boy helped police in their investigation. The child left in the desert after the rape was three years old, Okaz newspaper said.

International rights groups have accused the kingdom, the birthplace of Islam, of applying draconian justice, beheading murderers, rapists and drug traffickers in public. So far this year about 40 people have been executed in Saudi Arabia.

In Saudi Arabia, crucifixion means tying the body of the convict to wooden beams to be displayed to the public after beheading.

Or will they behead then crucify? That would seem pointless.

  1. Mr. Fusion says:

The Saudis are doing the nasty because he raped boys. If it was little girls then he would never have even been charged.

  2. MikeN says:

Somebody needs to tell the Saudis that the death penalty is not a deterrent. Crucifying him and killing him won’t stop him from raping again.

  3. Dallas says:

#21 good point Fusion. The double standard exists there in spades. Still a horrible crime when it involves children.

Will the Saudi’s be outsourcing the torture to take place in Cheney’s ranch?

  4. sargasso says:

    #18. correct on all accounts.

  5. raster says:

Just can have a good crucifixion these days:

“yeah, I know the way, out the door, line on the left, 1 cross each”

  6. jk says:

why didn’t they do it to mohammed?……..oh wait

  7. N74JW says:

IF this guy is guilty, what’s the problem? Beats paying $45,000 to $50,000 per year to house him in prison.

  8. wirelessg says:

When did Jon Gosselin get crucified? (see pic)

  9. Glass Half Full says:

If the guy is guilty (and I don’t know how ‘solid’ the Saudi justice system is) then it’s morally deserved. But I keep wondering, who would Jesus crucify?

In America, Jesus believes in guns, the death penalty and torture. But the “American Jesus”(tm) has nothing to do with the Bible or actual New Testament direct quotes from god/Jesus…it’s kind of a action hero comic book version of Jesus.

  10. Jägermeister says:

Who would have known… Jesus came back a child molester… Up on the cross again, you fucker!!

  11. Santa Maria says:

This should be applied to the three strikes law. Three parking tickets and poof: off you go carrying the cross!

    So much fun!

  12. zorkor says:

Beheading is permitted in Islam if the guardians of the kids he raped wont forgive him. He will be beheaded and then crucified just to warn the wanna be criminals against acts like this in the future.

Rape crimes are very very rare due to stiff punishments and when they do happen, the govt makes sure they get the stiffest punishment possible.

  13. chuck says:

There will also be a £10 fine.

  14. JimR says:

They’ll get it right someday. At first they would chop off your head and then hang you…

  15. admash says:

    Remember the Michael Faye incident?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_P._Fay

Bet if he ever goes back to Singapore, he leaves the spray-paint at home.

caning, the stocks/public humiliation for small offenses is not such a bad thing.

PS, they should crucify this bastard and let him hang there for three days, then behead him. Let the families for the victims administrate the first blows.

  16. B.Dog says:

Try leaving your wallet on the hood of your car in a city there, go walk around for a while, and it will be there when you get back. Don’t try this at home kids.

  17. Jägermeister says:

    #35 – B.Dog

Try doing the same with your wife/girlfriend…

  18. clancys_daddy says:

Yes there is a double standard, but until it changes this works for me.

  19. Sister Mary Hand Grenade of Quiet Reflection says:

They should super glue his hands to the sides of his head first so it looks like he ripped his own head off.

  20. Monty says:

Given the House of Saud’s abysmal human rights record and a justice system that belongs in the dark ages, I really am surprised by the number of “we should do this here” comments.

You don’t know if this guy has a single digit IQ. You don’t know if the charges are even true. He could be a political prisoner or a homosexual for all you’ve been told.

I’m pleased and privileged to be able live in a country that doesn’t have the death penalty, where due process is followed and fair trials exist. That’s not the USA and it isn’t Saudi either.
