FRIDAY, Nov. 20 (HealthDay News) — Some areas of the United States are seeing declines in H1N1 swine flu activity, a federal health official said Friday, and while the disease remains widespread in 43 states, that’s down from the 46 states reported last week.

The H1N1 virus continues to hit young adults and children hard. During the past week, 21 more children died from the flu, bringing to 171 the total number of confirmed deaths among children. But, Schuchat cautioned, “This is just a partial counting. Those estimates showed that at least 22 million Americans have come down with the swine flu since the virus first surfaced in April, and approximately 3,900 people have died, including an estimated 540 children. Of the children who have died from swine flu, two-thirds had chronic health problems, such as asthma, cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy, Schuchat said. The remaining one-third of the children were healthy and died of complications from bacterial infections, she said.

By way of comparison, seasonal flu — which poses a greater health threat to older adults — kills an estimated 36,000 Americans each year.

Meanwhile, the supply of H1N1 swine flu vaccine continues to grow, Schuchat said. As of Friday, 54.1 million doses had been produced by manufacturers — an additional 11 million doses since last week, she said.

Earlier, the CDC predicted there would be 190 million doses available by year’s end.

Better dump that stock…fast.

You’ll need an enema injection for all that.

  2. McCullough says:

    #20. Summarize please.

  3. Steve S says:

    #20 Epidemic of Naming,
Could you please repeat that list.
I didn’t get all of them.

  4. Animby says:

Hey, McCullough: Let me summarize the post:

There exist an impressive number of viruses. He can cut and paste the names of many of them. Very many on the list are not known to infect humans. Many more do not cause an illness when they do infect humans. There are no vaccines extant for most of them. He is an idiot with internet access.

Back on topic, is the swine flu declining?

Hell, who knows. All these numbers are pulled right out of some bureaucrat’s ass. The test for H1N1 is time consuming and expensive and the symptoms of this flu are essentially like the symptoms of all flues. Very (VERY) few of these cases of been positively identified as the swine flu. They are guessing and estimating and, I fear, hoping these are truly H1N1 cases.

Greg – I am not in favor if the H1N1 vaccine but I don’t think you can claim the private sector let us down. After all, they can’t manufacture a vaccine until it’s been identified. Quite honestly, I think they have done a pretty good job of getting the vaccine analyzed and a vaccine created so quickly. SO quickly, in fact, they didn’t have time to test it adequately which is why the government has allowed them some immunity for any side effects it might cause.

Now, go take an ObamaNap. You’re bothering the adults.

  5. Animby says:

Sorry. I said, “…they have done a pretty good job of getting the vaccine analyzed and a vaccine created…” but I meant “…getting the virus analyzed…”

  6. jccalhoun says:

Why is a shortage of the vaccine surprising? There is a shortage of the flu vaccine nearly every year according to the news.

The science is similar to how they were looking at Pluto in the electron macroscope calling it a planet, and only 70 years later, by another vote, and decades of debate, decide that there wasn’t a planet out there after all.
    what?
    electron macroscope? what?
Pluto is still there. It just isn’t called a planet any more. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet and no matter what you call that chunk of rock and ice it still exists.

You know what is a real, messed up
    possibility?

If the insaniacs in congress pass the health care bill, Uncle sam will then feel “obligated and responsible to
“assure you observe” the most [preventative] healthy lifestyle possible, you know, to keep costs down, Gov knows best and of course,
“the science is settled” on vaccine effectiveness.

I don’t think it’s a stretch to then see it requiring in the future that you take all vaccines available to aid in preventing you from becoming “unhealthy” -and costing the state money.

The perfectly timed two recent “studies” findings that less frequent mammograms and PAP smear tests are needed to get the same “protection” was an obvious pre-bill, pre-cost cutting measure.

The sudden rash of “breakthrough discoveries” for new vaccines covering everything from a Smoking vaccine a cocaine [addiction] vaccine, malaria, various cancer vaccines, HIV, “new vaccines for teens” -the list is endless over
    the past two months..

All it will take is another National Emergency declaration to have this mandated on everyone covered by the future GovCare bill. -if it’s not pre mandated already

Given the lunacy of the bill already,
this is probably already a forgone conclusion.

After all, BigPharma was invited to the table *and* some backroom deals.

    something to think about.

  8. Glenn E. says:

Somewhere I read or heard, that just five years ago, the whole vaccine industry was having serious financial problems. There were only two manufacturers in the US. And half the vaccine supply had to be destroyed, when one developed contaminated product. But today, it has become a boom era for vaccines. In part to the world’s governments, medical fraternity, and news media, all promoting the crap out of them, as greatest thing since sliced bread. And yet, not a single disease has been completely wiped out, since Small Pox. Meanwhile, new ones keep appearing. As if someone’s been busy, helping to create them. They can’t all be “accidental” and “random”.

For example this H1N1 virus. It’s hard to believe that half the world decided to visit some small town in Mexico, just to pick up this virus and take it back home. Do many Australians visit Mexican farm towns? How the hell did it spread so fast, if it wasn’t helped? Which begs the question, can we be sure virus aren’t being spread for their commercial value?

BTW, the death toll of 3,900, put in the context of something that could have been preventable, barely scratches the number of US soldiers lost in the current Iraq/Afghan war. And most of the flu deaths numbers are inflated, by attributing everyone who died, while the virus was suspected to be present. Little or no actual testing confirmed it. And victims often had other problems at the time. Any of which could have caused death, on their own. But the Flu got the blame, since that’s what’s so marketable right now.

Just this week, my Family doctor called asking me if I wanted the H1N1 shot. I told her NO, two weeks ago, but I guess a new batch arrived. I wouldn’t have to stand in line, if I changed my mind. And I’m not rich, either. Just your average Joe. Maybe a bit poorer, since I don’t have broadband yet. And I use an eight year old computer. But the thing is, I believe the Flu Shot shortage is a hoax. Just a clever marketing ploy, like Elmo dolls at Christmas. So everyone will want them, just because they’re so scarce. Meanwhile you’re more likely to get sick, standing out in the cold weather, waiting in line for your shot. Than if you stayed home or at work, warm and try, and not worried about getting the damn thing.

They’re not going to tell people to stay away from unnecessary public gatherings and events, like movies and ballgames. Or to avoid doing gift shopping in large malls. Or even traveling by plane or train. To avoid exposure to the virus. All bad for business. But they’ve already mentioned that “without the Flu shot, you could get infected while visiting the folks during Thanksgiving.” Nice!

I think the only reason we’re now hearing about declining Flu victim numbers, is because of the approaching holiday shopping season. What a bunch of commercial mercenaries, our news reporters are.

  9. The Idiot With Inertnet Access says:

Today’s study is on hot air.

    ref: http://www.ictvdb.rothamsted.ac.uk/Ictv/vn_indxH.htm

Viruses all travel by both hot and cold air. Claims are made as fact that viruses sometimes have specific routes of travel, yet it’s like they claim viruses only can be found traveling historic Route 66, when in reality, they travel any route they want.

4xample, they claimed in a government press release (1984) by Margaret Heckler that there was a new virus that can only be transmitted by blood to blood contact and through direct injection by someone’s penis.

They kalled the killer tomato “H I V”. It scared the shit out of so many people they were willing to accept poisonous AZT for salvation. It was the only elixir available to treat this new virus name. They died. It was of course the virus’ fault. People are still scared to death of it. They put balloons on their dicks to protect them from evil even though those balloons have holes in the membrane bigger than the virus. Any idiot with internet access can figure that out.

The problem with their lies about killer viruses is that the foundational scientific understanding of all viral particles is that every single one of them can be transmitted by air. They claim there are only certain ways to catch it yet they all travel by air in all reality. The wind is the biggest transmission route throwing them all over the world every day. They try to explain this away by saying viruses die when exposed to air, but viruses can’t “die” in the air when exposed as they are not living. The vaccine pushers don’t tell you any of this stuff they got products to sell, yet any idiot with internet access can access the data.

Not everyone with PHD’s and Masters and Bachelor’s degrees can believe and accept they have been deceived so easily when they look over the data and not everyone who’s 1000x more intelligent than idiots can understand what’s under the bridge that’s about to collapse as they travel over it in their Prius, yet the idiot’s with internet access who live under it can see what’s happening to the structure quite easily and move out of the way.

Not only are you projecting, you are acting very paranoid again. Take a pill.

  11. The0ne says:

I still don’t understand why some people refuse to even consider that H1N1 could be a potential threat. If the deaths alone doesn’t do it then what? I’m thinking these people are way to comfortable in their lives and are oblivious to what’s going on to even care.

How many more lives should be claim to make you happy? How many more babies and kids should die, for that matter for you to start opening your eyes? In fact, if you have a kid or know someone you love that does, send the kid over…get him/her infected and eventually die and see how you like us bashing your sorry ass.

If a few more people died this month compare to last month or last year, that’s ALREADY

  12. The0ne says:

…one too many imo. But then again, maybe numbers really do mean nothing to some people.

    #30 Mr Fusion..

while yes, I phrased the context and continuity of the entire post poorly..

My intent was to frame the post exclusively in a marketing perspective and light, (ie: profit motive being the only reason for “the mandate”)

Paranoia has nothing to do with it.

Simply..it is extremely obvious what the long term “business plan” is for “health care” and vaccines, how it is being “framed” in the minds of the dumbed down masses, -and how GovCorp will exploit it all..

#28 Glenn E did a rather elegant job of illustrating the “Big Picture” of the vaccine scam quite nicely.

    -esp in his last statement:

“I still don’t understand why some people refuse to even consider that H1N1 could be a potential threat.”

I’m a firm believer in the close relationship between the history of snake oil sales and the history of the medical community and it’s set of similar products offered for sale. I for one, haven’t seen any proof that the famed H1N1 is what some scientists and officials claim. I do see the typical set of circumstances leading to media attention based on the claims of a very few at the top of the viral chain of command. I mean it’s not like I’m committing a crime by not trusting government am I? Where is the absolute proof that it exists and that IT is what harms as compared to just being there? I see lots of hysteria and handing down of press releases and bosses in certain departments stating it’s real, and IT’s the cause, but we heard all of this before with swine flu and many other similar situations throughout the history of government trying to regulate health ineffectively.

#34 if the dude is so wrong maybe you should provide some exacts as to why a virus supposedly can’t travel by air. It is my understanding that even water can travel by air so why shouldn’t a virus be able to travel by air? In fact, I just did some research on it and found that there is no ultra microscopic particle on earth that can’t be thrown through the air by the simple movements and changes of warming and cooling, thus, it appears that what the idiot is saying is true, and thus, what we are being told by those in charge is quite a mismatch of statements that contradict all too frequently and should be routinely questioned if not entirely discarded.

  17. jccalhoun says:

if the dude is so wrong maybe you should provide some exacts as to why a virus supposedly can’t travel by air. It is my understanding that even water can travel by air so why shouldn’t a virus be able to travel by air?

There is a difference between being able to travel by air and actually doing it and actually making someone sick when it does. The guy was trying to say that HIV can be transmitted through air and not just blood or body fluids because it is a virus and all viruses not only travel through air but you can catch it that way. This is patently false because there are tons of viruses that have been around for a long long time that are not transmitted from person to person through air. Mono for example. There’s a reason why it is known as the kissing disease. I don’t know anything about medicine but I do know that hiv is not transmitted from person to person through the air.
