#7:

"Capitalism has failed."

These huge banks and wacky derivatives aren't really components of "capitalism."

Capitalism and free markets *do* require the right regulations to bring them about. A totally unregulated market is most likely never going to be a true free market.

Andrew has the most entertaining transitions to gotomypc.com salesmanship. Truthfully it does relate to most current affairs/technology/financial news.

Not a criticism, I enjoy it. Working backwards from the interlude gives a bit of perspective.

Stock picks from the guys who said oil would be $25bbl this summer - and there was no recession in December 2007? No thanks.

Almost as thoroughly researched as the dweebs who say socialist governments can't oversee productive economies. Har! Guess I'd better stop investing in China.

The pronounciementos about a socialist White House are too droll for commentary.

We have plenty of leadership. The guys running the White House have lots of socialist ideas but socialist aren't great at _producing_ wealth. Their claim to fame is _redistributing_ wealth. I think it is fair to say that the Dems are working hard to redistribute the GNP.

The problem is they are spending money faster than the people that know how to make money can make it and stay profitable while working hard to put policies in place that are going to make it much harder for businesses to show a profit while spending money like they expect Santa to show up and cover the bill.

The only way they are ever going to cover the bills they are running up is to inflate the dollar to the point that the reduced revenue stream in inflated money can cover the bill and the actual amount that people on government aid get doesn't amount to much.

I don't think the United States government ought to have a AAA rating as a bond seller. On a twenty year bond I would rate it as a junk bond and on a par with a penny stock. A very high risk investment. A ten year bond isn't a lot better. A five year bond _might_ be double AA.

The only question is when do they have to start running the printing presses full time in order to inflate their way out of debt? I'm not sure how close we are to that point and I don't think there is any way to know in advance.

"energy efficiency and weatherization?" I live in San Diego and the heater has yet to come on this "winter" and many here live without air conditioning. I lost my job LAST year, the Monday before Thanksgiving.

This is the best this clown and his administration has to offer?

No wonder the market can't find a direction. The whole country is frozen trying to grasp what is going on. Media, medicine and science lie for money. No leadership in government no - leadership in the corporate world no - leadership from the "morals crowd", nowhere. Adrift.
