Source the statement. Median wait times for surgery are 4 weeks. There are no waiting times for emergency surgery.

Medicare is going bankrupt because people don’t want to pay for the commitments they make. Americans have chosen to pay whatever it costs to delay the death of the elderly, if those people so choose. However, Americans refuse to pay the cost for that decision in the form of higher taxes.

This is why the ignorant “tea bag” right is destroying the country. They demand an unlimited right to end of life care for the elderly without the commitment to pay for it.

#1 I’m not actually familiar with free market health care. According to my mother it used to work pretty well. The prices were reasonable and everything. They did away with it about the time I was born. Where did you see it?

You know what? I already get free healthcare at my local county hospital. I just got released from the ER today have having a bad infection.

I’ve been battling a fever for 4 days now, and I couldn’t stand the shaking, headaches, and my brain being slow-roasted at 102′deg.

The nurses, techs, and doctors fixed me up, handed me a prescription (which is also covered FREE), and sent me on my way in about 4 hours feeling a whole lot better. Waiting at the pharmacy was another 2 hours to get my script filled, but it wasn’t that bad.

And no I don’t live in Canada… California actually.

I almost forgot:
f) pay only $60/month/person for health-care “premiums”, then pay 20% income tax.
g) depend on the US for most military defense (thanks) and if you want to skip the waiting list for the hospital, drive to the nearest US hospital and hand over your VISA card.

You forgot:
d) hand over 20% of your income (over and above your current income tax) to pay for it all.

Medicare may work, but without massive increases in funding, it will be bankrupt.

Here in Canada the process is:
a) Call doctor and take whatever appointment is available. Maybe next week or next month.
b) Visit doctor.
c) Not much paperwork.
d) Prescriptions? Pay for them yourself.
e) Need hospital care? Ok, we’ll have that operation ready for you in 18 months.

Plainly put, BULLSHIT!!!

A prescription is NOT a health record under HIPPA. An eyeglass prescription is no different than an antibiotic prescription. There is no need for it to be faxed. You are perfectly entitled to take the prescription to ANY eyeglass outlet you like, in any city. (Who pays for it though is between you and your insurance company)

Why you would insist on posting such blatant garbage is beyond me. It is, however, true to the right wing nut course of lies and fabrication.

21 – you mean how insurance lets the patient see any doctor they want? As long as they get a referral, and as long as hes on the preapproved list, and as long as he doesn’t cost too much…
