Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) apologized Saturday for referring to President Obama in private conversations during the 2008 presidential campaign as “light-skinned” and as having “no Negro dialect.”
The second one, which seems to be popping up in outlets like Drudge Report, is the rumor that Reid had plastic surgery:
While this is going on, the real unemployment keeps rising, the wars goes on and the U.S. government is getting further into debt. Who cares?!
But did you see that Simon Cowell left Idol?

I don’t believe what Reid said was racist, per se. But if it was a Republican had said it, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would have his nuts in a vice.
…and don’t forget anything regarding Sarah Palin’s family. Can’t miss any of that important stuff.
RBG
I don’t consider Reid’s statement to be racist. It is insulting – to virtually all voters. He is suggesting that non-black voters found Obama to be a more acceptable candidate because he is “light-skinned”. In other words, we’re all a bunch of bigots.
Which, of course, is not only insulting – but wrong. A bigot would not vote for Obama (or any non-white candidate). The rest of us (Democrats and Republicans) vote based on issues (and frequently on personality).
Reid is an idiot pure and simple, again another glaring example of whats wrong with our political system, there in front of all our noses.
And no, that rant has nothing to do with him being a Dem or what he said.
He is another one of our beloved politicians that needs to hang it up, and just go away, before we can start turning this country around, and repair the political process.
Fuck a bunch of that. You guys (dems) would be all over a Republican like wolves on a fresh kill were they to say something like that. But – as usual – you freaks protect your own, and somehow or another sprinkle pixie dust on a turd pile and tell everyone “Are you going to believe us – or your lying ears?”
Your lynching of Trent Lott comes back to bite you guys in the rear years later.
Funny to watch you run for cover.
My favorite film of all time is birth of a nation. You all should watch africa addido africa blood and guts. I also use miro player and found a news video about witch doctors from kenya al jeezera produced it. Study the history of rhodesia, uganda south africa etc. Highest rape and murder rate is in south africa. Highest rape and murder in u.s. is detroit michigan which is 88% black. I listen to channon christians father he says you all need to wake up.
Sounds racist to me. What other reason would he bring up Obama’s skin color?
Reid is an idiot. So are the people who vote based on party. All idiots in my opinion. Let’s face it…the American people are basically idiots, led by idiots.
A proud American idiot.
This is the worst insult to Obama since Joe Biden called him clean and articulate.
BTW, there was a to-do last week because ‘negro’ is going to be on the 2010 census.
Its also insulting to mention that negroes sweat more in the summertime or that white folks get sunburned in the summertime or that males do better in the sciences than women and on and on.
Lots of things in life are “not fair.” If only Eve had not tempted Adam to taste of the apple. We would all be better off conforming to god’s law. I wonder why he didn’t make us compliant–or how he was “surprised” when we failed his “test.”
Yes, lots of things for us to think about.
Lies are respected truth is not.
Reid observed what is true (regardless of whatever else anyone thinks about him) and he is in trouble for it. More PC bullshit. More evidence showing how far gone the US is.
#11 is exactly right – what he said was true. How a candidate looks and talks effects his chances. We’ve lost the difference between “racial” and “racist”. “Racist” refers to stereotypes and degradation. Reid’s comments refer to racial characteristics but are not degrading stereotypes. His opinion of the electorate is insulting but we have a way to correct that. And why would the Republicans want to run him out of town. Reid is a sure loser in the fall. What if his replacement is better?
whAT HAPPENED TO retirement age??
GET these folks to RETIRE..
Dear Bobbo,
You make me want to smash my face inside a waffle iron sometimes…and the worst part is…I have no idea why.
Love,
DA
P.S. Political correctness makes me angry. I’m going call to someone a nigger tomorrow in protest.
Reid’s comments certainly were racist. The guy is no Democrat. He’s a rightist Gopper posing as one.
Perhaps adding a rumored plastic surgery to the Reid story might make it somewhat interesting?
Nope.
Here’s one….
After Sarah Palin rogue’d in her underwear and then wrote fiction, now she’s at….you guessed it !! FOX !
Is this the end of the journey? Don’t all conservative hairballs end up in the Fox toilet?
This is right in line with the idea that liberals want to tell you what or what not to say, but conservatives want to tell you what to think- in the name of PC.
I enjoy the fact that the Fox nutbags are using Reid and Lott in a false equivalency, SOP, and again making the ridiculous claim that “if it were a Republican…”
But the Republicans have this problem…they’re what….0.5% black membership? It’s a white guys’ club. Which means they can’t say much about race issues without looking completely stupid.
As long as we’re quoting snippets from that book, here’s another interesting one. (From http://sphere.com/article/the-10-most-game-changing-scoops-in-game-change/19311783)
7. The McCain Camp Was Making Plans to Downgrade Palin: According to the authors, vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin thought Saddam Hussein was behind 9/11. During prep for her debate, she seemed ready to call her opponent Senator “O’Biden,” and while being drilled for upcoming interviews, “she would routinely shut down — chin on her chest, arms folded, eyes cast to the floor, speechless and motionless, lost in what those around her described as a kind of catatonic stupor.” In the event of a McCain victory, his aides were planning to reduce Palin’s role “to the largely ceremonial role that premodern vice presidents inhabited.”
And to think this woman could have been a heartbeat away from the presidency…
Run Sarah run! Please, Republicans… run her for president!
Dang it, forgot the close italic at the end of “…premodern vice presidents inhabited.”
The rest is my jeering.
