With Obama in office I guess I'm just being overly cautious to anything associated with new government programs but it just seems a lot of the symbols used to promote these programs use the same big "O" design.

Hey nitwits. A contract from the government to create work, yup, when the work is done so is that job.

lol, look at unemployment numbers: We went from 10.3% to 10% but that same week we lost 17,000 more jobs. Heck, by the governments numbers if we lose 17,000 jobs a week for the next 30 weeks, we will be at zero for those unemployed.

No No, I got it, lets say I am going to do a spending freeze, but raise all the budgets of those departments affected by 35%. yeah a spending freeze.

All I have to say is YES Obama, pleae go a help Harry R. in his re-election. Yeah yeah yeah

The problem with infrastructure and jobs is the lag. Anyone who has built a house should understand this. Surveys, permits, engineering, environmental impact studies, more permits, obtaining rights, buying properties, the bidding process, and it goes on and on. Some of these projects can take years before equipment rolls. You also have interagency conflicts and pissing contests. Did I mention members of Congress getting involved in their districts projects and local politics?

# 23 Rabble Rouser "Gee, I guess Obama is making the country broke by investing in roads. Maybe he should wage a war on a country that never attacked us, or give bailouts to big banks....."

He did and continues to do so.

"Not to mention the costs of the Iraq war were NOT put in the budget, but raised as “emergency” spending bills."

Not all of it, get your facts stright.

"Maybe if we stopped researching better ways to kill people, and spent it on how to heal people, and give EVERYONE medical care, we might have healthier people, and fewer wars."

Oh! Come on you people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another right now

#16 just me "Bush deficit numbers never included the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, whereas Obama deficit numbers do, so please, don’t compare apples to oranges."

How about comparing your post to reality? Some of the war funding was submitted to Congress as “emergency” supplemental funding plans but not all. I think around 2007 or 2008 it was included in the regular budget.

A federal spending surge of more than $20 billion for roads and bridges in President Barack Obama's first stimulus has had no effect on local unemployment rates, raising questions about his argument for billions more to address an "urgent need to accelerate job growth."

This is a little sideways - but if we want to start reigning in our debt we need to do something about health care. Yeah I know everybody is bored and frustrated about that, but it really is a huge part of the debt problem. Here is a graph from Jan national geographic.

http://exiledonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/6a00e0098226918833012876a6070f970c-800wi1.jpeg

More on the topic - at least building the roads is actually doing something useful for the country. As opposed to bailing out failed banks, and insurance institutions so they can carry on paying huge bonuses.

Ah, yeah...

After the "real" crash (initial signs possibly showing up tomorrow) -We'll all be building the new NASCO Super Corridor at a slave wages (if at all) for our new/old Banker slave owners.

Need a clue as to where to move to find work after congress flat-lines the country? Try this map of the initial NASCO "trade route". **Notice the FAT extra-wide corridor between Chicago and Detroit**

-perhaps a convenient coincidence that many of the White House cabinet seems to have roots in Chicago, including the messiah, eh?

oh, don't forget this related Aug, 10, 2009 press release from the White House to help you connect the dots.. JOINT STATEMENT BY NORTH AMERICAN LEADERS

I'd like to see a map overlaid with a map of all those nifty FEMA camps they have been building up since mid the 2000's. It would not surprise me if there is a decent concentration of those nifty (600+ -rail accessible)) FEMA Camps they've been building for us "illegals" along the corridor..

--

-anyway.. the "Ball & Chain" @ work sign is a nice touch..get used to seeing it.

actually, I don't mind fixing the highways, as long as they use American workers. However, have you ever seen the prices paid to these projects? The contractors make out ...the workers get paid slightly better, the citizens who pay are paying 5x the going rate for the same work in the private sector. Ever wonder why construction company heads drive such nice trucks?

SOP answer..

AS more people become Unemployed..
Business tax should rise, as the GOV puts those extra persons to work..
The MORE work there is the LOWER the taxes should become.
THATS how it should work.

But LOGIC hasnt ruled in this country for decades..
