Back here at home, “gay marriage” initiatives on the ballot fail so often because the term “gay marriage” is too much of an oxymoron, like “military intelligence.” “Gay” & “marriage” simply don’t fit together in the mind.

Another terminology for it needs to be established. That we cannot find one is simply a failure of imagination.

#34 i’m totally in favor of keeping the business of marriage as a religious ritual. In fact marriage was originally a ‘contract’ signifying a man owned a woman. Religion merely uses this ritual as a profitable business.

I want government out of the business of human relationships or it should be civil unions. Marriage should be a subset of civil unions where some holy guy does his thing and everyone’s happy.
