California’s white population has declined since 2000 at an unprecedented rate, hastening the day when Hispanics will be the state’s largest population group, according to newly released state figures.
Analysts said the decline can be attributed to two main causes – a natural population decrease as Baby Boomers enter their later years and die at a faster rate than younger whites have children, and a migration from California since 2001 among whites who sought affordable housing as real estate costs soared.
The study also confirmed projections that a steadily growing Hispanic population will surpass whites as the state’s largest racial demographic in 2016. Hispanics are expected to become a majority of all Californians in 2042, Heim said.

Truxillo, 47, has said the new country should be brought into being “by any means necessary,” but recently said it was unlikely to be formed by civil war. Instead, its creation will be accomplished by the electoral pressure of the future majority Hispanic population in the region, he said.

There’s parts of Los Angeles, that if you were dropped off there blindfolded, you’d never know you were in the US. Not commenting on either side, just stating a fact.

I can tell you that it’s “common knowledge” among the non-white population that the southwest is land stolen from the Mexican natives, and that it needs to be re-claimed.
You hear a lot of “we didn’t cross the border, the border crossed us” type of talk.
It seems to be so ingrained that no one makes a big deal about it.
It’s bizarre, really.
And while the general population isn’t thinking about it in terms of reclamation, the professors certainly are.

The guy is a conspiracy nut. I have heard a lot recently about Mexican “succession” groups trying to seize parts of the South West. Like Bill O’Reilly’s fascination with La Raza. Frankly, I don’t think this would happen unless the US collapses and breaks apart. Why would anyone in their right mind emigrate to a country with a much better economy, trade, and government than the one they come from (Mexico), then break away and limit themselves. Well, I guess Quebec has tried, and if they did they are in a position to fail (no routes to the oceans, etc.).
I have lived in both South Florida, with its huge Cuban population, and So Cal with its large Hispanic and Asian populations. The majority want to be Americans. Only a limited number of kooks want succession (like those kooky militia groups and Texas Guv’nors). And the only ones who are terrorizing us with the idea are people who are losing their majority status, and will scare you to keep it (yeah, I mean racists).
Maybe O’Reilly should be reminded that long ago, they used to talk about the Irish in the same way.

Having lived in New Mexico for 20 years, I’ve observed that most Hispanics in this state (except for Truxillo, who’s a nutcase) are perfectly happy being Americans and have no intent to turn the Southwest into Mexico del Norte. Many of them still speak Spanish, but the ones living in the far northern parts of the state speak “real” Spanish, not Mexicanized Spanish. There’s also “Spanglish,” which combines English and Spanish. The longer immigrants live here, the less they speak Mexican Spanish and Spanglish, for economic reasons like jobs. They soon learn English so they can climb the economic ladder. The same happens in AZ and TX of course, and probably in CA as well.
As a refugee from the People’s Republic of California and a ‘Zonie’ since 2006, I have only one answer: “Fuck You”.
First, this would never happen for a variety of reasons outside of a post-apocalyptic scenario, namely any self-respecting president, reminded of A. Lincoln, wouldn’t allow a secession; Here in AZ we not only are making the environment inhospitable to illegal immigrants, our official language is English and we have also recently passed a bill to kill off these ‘cultural perspective’ classes in high schools and colleges that do nothing but foment racism and these types of false history revisions.
Now, during the War Between the States, of which the Confederate Territory of Arizona was the western-most ground of hostility (Picacho Peak), there were plans to purchase or annex Sonora and Chihuahua. This we should probably still do at some point. And for that matter, we could do far better with the 2000 miles of coastline Baja has than the United States of Mexico has up to this point.
