Pretty slow. Speed it up and make it capable of going up and down stairs and then the handicapped won’t need ramps anymore. It will be years before it is commercially able to replace wheelchairs though.
The spider is a fixation of the producer Jon Peters. He was onboard with Superman with Kevin Spacey, and his version had the spider, as did The Sandman.
The logger was cool. It can travel over very uneven terrain and it doesn’t mess up said terrain nearly as bad as wheels.
The ant was cool and looked like it could be used to do work but I suspect it would run out of power in minutes. I don’t think it was so much a robot as remote control.
The first machine was pretty crude with better electronics than legs. It might had done better with six legs and a bigger body.

I still prefer the walking harvester:
(even though it never made it to the market)
Yes, two likable stars, great tv credits===crap fest of a movie-unwatchable.
[You've finally gone over the edge Bobbo. - ed.]
This is a much cooler, albeit smaller, “spider” robot:
Me and my fucking walker move faster that that!

Better than the movie version.

This kind of locomotion is MUCH easier with six or eight legs. Faster, too.
Spider Man,
Spider Man,
Does whatever a spider can….
I’d hate to be stuck in traffic riding this thing.

Cool… we just had a earthquake. Very rare here.
You could go faster if you just sat on a table and just shifted your weight from side to side.
Saw that in Star Wars.
#15. Canada? We just felt that in New Zealand.
The Army has a gas powered mechanical “mule” that is fantastic.
Oops. Gas powered. Bad bad bad.
Have to wait for a wind powered “mule”.
Sargasso, yes Canada. it was a 5.5 and near Ottawa.
My house was swaying!
