This was discussed on the most recent No Agenda, posted above. It seems to be isolated to Southern California. It reeks of a hoax. Cops cannot be this stupid. To me, this sort of muddy thinking poses a genuine threat to the public safety.
Pedobear is a meme featuring a cute cartoon bear who pops up wherever people are being creepy about kids on the Internet. Cops in California don’t understand this, and have issued a hilarious warning about Pedobear.
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Department, who can’t be bothered to look up Pedobear’s extensive Wikipedia entry, issued a very serious warning about Pedobear last week, as seen in the news report above. Scaring sheep is most effective with a real person or object so “Pedo-Bear” does the trick.
Chupacapra was taken and not very descriptive in English. “Pedro-Bear”, while equally frightening does not have the zing that “pedo” has.
