Lu Parker of KTLA, who dates the mayor of Los Angeles, and is supposed to be a reporter, claimed on Monday night that the TSA full-body X-ray back-scatter machines emitted the same radiation as a cell phone conversation. Apparently nobody at the entire station knows the difference between ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. And why should she? She’s pretty. Pretty dumb. That’s unless she was deliberately trying to mislead the public.
Or does she believe that cell phones give off X-rays? I assume she’s never taken physics preferring her graduate degree in make-up-ology. Listen to the clip below. Shilling for the TSA and the body scanners, for sure. A disservice to the viewing public for sure and more deliberate misinformation.

Isn’t the mayor of Los Angeles one Antonio R. Villaraigos? A La Raza reconquista? A Mexico first, southwest belongs to Aztlan kinda guy? And he is dating a white woman.

Simple, the constitution is a document of American Values. Defending those values (Bill of rights, ….) is defending America and it’s character, it’s way of life and it’s the basis of our prosperity.
When Bush “vowed to do his duty to protect the American people.” he was saying (his actions back show this) that he would not protect American values (Bill of rights…). That’s the difference in a nut shell.
GW BUSH may indeed have “defended” the American people, as he said “ah… they didn’t hit us again”, but; we have lost our American values (Bill of rights…)!!!
So the question is what have we won, a $200.00 ticket to have “my junk” touched groped and probed??

JCD, I’m not defending her. I could care less about her and broadcast news in general. They are all fools pumping out FUD. I’m just stating that she may not technically be wrong. The passenger wasn’t flying from LAX as you are suggesting where they use X-Ray BS. He was flying from SAN which uses both mm Wave and X-Ray depending on the terminal. And before you say I don’t know what I’m talking about, my degrees are in the electrical engineering field and I’ve done decades related of work since then. I’m not some uninitiated hoi polloi making some claim about the dangers of different types of radiation. Simply a critical reader who is pointing out in the short clip you posted probably lacks some context and she didn’t say anything that was damningly inaccurate depending on Tyner’s specific circumstances.

I am a DOD Civ and frequently travel in and out of San Diego on orders. I always travel with sensitive information (computer and paperwork) which I am obligated to maintain custody at all times. I have a security clearance and a need to know. The TSA dipshit has neither. I’m wondering what they will think when I tell them I’m not authorized to step into the nudiscan or the grope-zone without custody of my belongings?
Being a tv news photographer in San Francisco, (32 years), and sometimes working with LA reporters, I can assure you that LA has the most vapid, gorgeous, stupid women reporters in the world. San Francisco, in contrast, has, at times, the ugliest newscast teams on the planet.
Neither group knows anything about radiation, I can also assure you.
Anyone know what type of calibration or maintenance is required for the x-ray or whole body microwave machines? The commercial medical machines (X-ray, CATscan, MRI) have a bad habit of killing people (Therac-25). In the radiation health industry, its known as an unnecessary risk.
