Awkward…

  1. bobbo, Republicans are all Lying Scum Suckers says:

Ah Yea–no cringe of hypocrisy or pettiness? None at all? No chest thumping about States Rights?

Partisan Non Think on full display. What does your brain look like when thinking about Obama?

    Silly Human.

  2. Buzz Mega says:

Caddy. Bullet proof. No such thing as extending load-level suspension. Lesson learned.

Note to Secret Service: Bullet proof doesn’t help if vehicle not driveway-proof. Contact Citroen. Ask about suspension.

  3. spsffan says:

#19. The last thing Joplin Missouri needs is the POTUS entourage showing up draining precious police and other emergency response personnel’s time.

There’s nothing he can’t do from over there or delegate to Biden that would make a difference.

It reminds me of Fiddler on the Roof when one of the townspeople asks the Rabbi if there is a proper blessing for the Tsar. The rabbi replies, “A blessing for the Tsar, of course. May God bless and keep the Tsar, far away from us!”

My sincerest sympathy to those affected by the tornadoes and floods. They don’t need the additional disruption of a presidential visit just yet. You will note that the only public statement Obama made yesterday WAS about the tornadoes back home.

Bush of course, wouldn’t be doing anything as important as a state visit to our closest ally. He would be reading story books!

  4. Olo Baggins of Bywater says:

#23…more likely he would be clearing brush in Crawford.

But if Obama was in Joplin, the narrative would be that he’s already campaigning. Etc.

  5. MikeN says:

Not the most humiliating thing to happen to him this week. That would be the lecturing he suffered at the hand of Netanyahu, and then having to go grovel at AIPAC. I’m sure Paul Ryan was smiling.

  6. jbenson2 says:

Meeschelle’s diet program is not working out so well.

  7. Osama Bin Laden says:

Missed opportunity for a well aimed RPG…

Anyway, how did they get the car out in the end?

  8. pedro says:

#25 Those are already in the embarrassment list. The Netanyahu bit was hilarious.

  9. Nelson says:

    HA HA!

  10. subatomic_rage says:

What I love about this is it’s the US Embassy. Anyone up for taking over as the new US Ambassador to Ireland?

  11. Yankinwaoz says:

#22… bingo! I was thinking the same thing. They need to talk to Citron about redoing that suspension system.

  12. msbpodcast says:

At some point you can’t reinforce those Cadillac limos anymore and expect them move at all; they don’t have enough ground clearance.

The V.I.P. in front should have been in a stretch Hummer. (What the hell? He could have rented one from a wedding consultant, painted it black, done the trip, and had it re-painted white and given it back.)

  13. jescott418 says:

Darn things are so heavy with all that bullet proof glass. But it’s Funny!

  14. sargasso_c says:

    An instant Youtube sensation.

  15. John E. Quantum says:

Th Secret Service is responsible for this. They survey the presidential route prior to any trips by POTUS. Somebody missed the hazard. They just found the agent to take over the artic circle counterfitting office.

  16. Animby says:

    # 23 spsffan said, “Bush of course, wouldn’t be doing anything as important as a state visit to our closest ally. He would be reading story books!”

That’s a truly cheap shot and unworthy. Presidents have to do things like visit schools. And it wasn’t his choice what he was doing when the planes hit.

O’Bama, on the other hand, WRITES children’s books as the country comes apart.

    Which is worse?

BTW – I see no reason why a State visit should be interrupted for a natural disaster. But he ought to be commenting on it (and perhaps he has – it’s my morning and I haven’t read the news, yet) and extending his infinite mercy on their souls.

  17. deowll says:

It most likely has mushy suspension due to weight from armor but if the President had been in the vehicle stuck in order to prevent him from being a setting duck for an assassin the vehicle behind should have shoved the stuck vehicle far enough out to get unstuck.

Of course not having done a test run suggests somebody needs spend a few months peeling spuds to remind them to use their brains. Okay maybe they did do a test run using an empty car.

  18. JH says:

I loved the official US response on the BBC…”The Limo was not stuck…”

  19. laxdude says:

I find it hard to believe that the SS does not have ‘mule’ type vehicles built on the same GM medium duty truck frame with identical wheelbase, angles of approach and departure, clearance and corners that goes around on the route beforehand. I also can’t believe that the ‘limo’ doesn’t have an better suspension to avoid an unplanned high-spotting.

Of course if things went bad the trailing vehicle would be able to push it off…but man…I wonder how many people got dressed down and had their careers ended over this. I guess the SS team at McMurdo base just shipped out – can’t been too prepared.

  20. Miguel says:

This kind of vehicle should take care of most ground clearance issues:
