Today marks the end of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell“. The law is repealed. From this day forward Gay and Lesbian soldiers may serve in our Army with the dignity and respect they deserve. Our rules, regulations and policies reflect the repeal guidance issues by the Department of Defense and will apply uniformly without regard to sexual orientation, which is a personal and private matter.
Overdue.

BTW noname, if you are a black man, it’s ironic to hear you saying the same shit about gays in the military that people said about blacks in the military. Stuff about them being savages, unable to control their lustful impulses, blah de blah blah.
76, Phydeau,
Yes. Do I treat them fairly? As much as they’re entitled to within a work environment. Do I want to mingle with them? Nope.
So you’re justifying the breaking of rules because others have broken break them without getting caught? You’re not one of those penis envy liberals who get upset about those sort of things do you?
SOPs get broken too in the military. Does that mean others should stop obeying them?
You’ve got a talent for being Master of the Obvious. But you forgot that they keep it to themselves for the most part and they do their jobs (as they should) even though they hide their gayness.
So some guy at work saying “my boyfriend and I went biking this weekend” is “shoving it down your throat”? Just knowing that someone is gay is “shoving it down your throat”?
Shoving it down my throat is trying to get me to embrace your alternative lifestyle is normal or encouraging my children to adopt your lifestyle through the public education system. You have your moral compass and I have mine. Do your job and I will treat you fairly. Leave your personal matters at home.
In the military, I could care less about what you and your boyfriend did over the weekend. Keep whatever you and your boyfriend do between yourselves and don’t bring it to work (hetereo or homo). Just don’t drag me into your world.
Squeamish? Whatever made you think I’m squeamish? Ahhhhh… a liberal who jumps to conclusions. It figures.
Liberals seem to think everyone opposes them if others don’t support the liberal cause 100%. Get over it. Most people honestly don’t care.
No, I’m perfectly okay with you wanting to pack some other guy’s fudge. You can play the skin flute for all I care. I just don’t want to know about it. I don’t need nor want to know your business or what makes your boat float / bike run.
When we’re off duty you mind your business and I’ll mind mine.
77, Phydeau,
It’s always amusing to see liberals exaggerating someone’s dislike of something as a phobia. I suppose if you met someone who doesn’t like eating sushi that your typical liberal mindset will draw a hasty conclusion and deduce somehow that the person is sushi phobic.
You skin flute loving liberals have a passion for exaggerating things for argumentative theater.
78, NoName,
Phydeau just summed it up for you already. As a member of the skin flute player’s minority union, he feels that DADT has infringed upon his military entitlement to tell his military co-workers what he and his boyfriend did over the weekend.
This is probably because Phydeau probably thinks that the hetero members of the military have always had the right to free speech within the military (he’s probably watched a lot of Hollywood Military movies)
He’s probably a self-proclaimed authority on how military training or combat revolves around hetero guys talking about what they did with their GFs over the weekend. Split second life or death decisions are based on a guys flashback from the previous weekend, month, year, etc. At least that’s probably how he’s been told through Hollywood. Heck, he probably thinks that G.I. Jane is a realistic movie.
82, Phydeau,
What a dope. There’s a HUGE difference between being black and being gay. Blacks cannot hide their skin color.
Weren’t you the boy genius who said that gays have always been here. The implied message being that they’ve been in hiding.
It’s bad enough that you’re liberal. But please don’t show your stupidity over an example such as that.
#12, Tea Dude, no, transsexuals are still barred from joining the military. This repeal only affects the ban on homosexuals.
Interestingly enough, the number of people discharged under “DADT” was a fraction of a fraction of a percent of all discharges, and the majority of those were boot camp “revelations” who decided they didn’t want to be there anymore.
The one thing that passing this repeal has done is it has emboldened the political supporters of allowing women in the infantry… which actually does have serious readiness implications.
