This weekend I’ll be visiting one of the two or three original and most interesting Crafts Fairs. It’s in Berkeley with a hippy genesis. It’s always fascinating. All the information for the event can be found here. If you see me, say hi.

Just out of shot John is wearing matching toe-rings and hemp sandles.

  2. Fred Miller says:

John your last NA Show was superb and fascinating. NA is better than heroin. How can I inject it? If folks really listen they will hear how open minded you really are. You were correct about your Fed comments. Few people understand macroeconomics. It is odd how we are all into the latest cell phone technology, but we are comfortable using 19th century economics. In deflationary or low growth times the money supply is suffering entropy due to a loss of value (real estate property) or confidence (productivity). The potential energy or velocity of money is diminished. Substantial investment (doesn’t have to be from government) can reseed the money supply with new multipliers or entropy free dollars. If we had a functioning government that had a long term view we could use targeted investment say in building out near field technology use in the public sector or paying down on marginal mortgage principal to stimulate the economy. Longer term when there is too much growth/inflation then we should tax and cut subsidies to pay down debt and invest in education rather than allowing the Fed to shred money with interest rates.

It will probably take the X and Y generations to get the institutionalized corruption out of government. They could start by demanding that their parents who are legislators adopt ethics rules in legislatures that require legislators to recuse themselves on votes that affect their campaign contributors. If their parents refuse to adopt the ethic rules then the kids will post the legislator’s dirty laundry.
