WARNING – this music will turn you into a HIPPY! Song leave them a Flower by Wally Whyton for 1968. Do you think he is the first with this kind of music?

  1. Read says:

We can have an industrialized economy or a planet whose climate is pleasant for humans, but we cannot have both.

Fortunately, constrained natural resources will bring an end to the industrialized economy with its ideas of perpetual economic growth as the only path to human happiness.

  2. McCullough says:

Leave them a flower and a 20 Trillion $$ debt..that’ll teach ’em to trust their elders.

  3. Admfubar says:

    Clams???

  4. Mark says:

Compared to 1968, the air, rivers and lakes are much cleaner here in the US. It can be improved, but we need to recognize the huge strides that have been made. Future gains will be small compared to past ones.

    • Marc Perkel says:

I agree. I was raised in Wheeling WV and I remember how you could see the air. Smokestacks billowing black and red smoke. It is far better now.

      Now we need population control.

      • CrankyGeeksFan says:

Another reason for the improvement is the de-industrialization of that part of the country.

“Leave Them A Flower” is a song criticizing unrestrained development in my opinion. It’s more directed than “Little Boxes” recorded in 1963 by Pete Seeger; “God Bless The Grass” or “Cement Octapus” recorded in 1966 also by Pete Seeger and all of these songs were written by Malvina Reynolds.

I’ll always like “Mr. Factory” by The Archies from their 1970 album, Sunshine.

        • The Monster's Lawyer says:

I heard that Archie and Jughead tied the knot when they made gay marriage legal. Betty finally left Moose because of his abuse. Veronica is still cranking the meth though.

          • CrankyGeeksFan says:

A music video of “Mr. Factory” from their show’s first run over a decade before MTV:

  5. Uncle Patso says:

    From
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clam

In October 2007 an Arctica islandica clam, caught off the coast of Iceland, was discovered to be at least 405 years old, and was declared the world’s oldest living animal by researchers from Bangor University; it was later named Ming.

    Leave them a clam!

  6. noname says:

God bless America, American folk music that is!
