I assume they are using smart bullets. Very deadly though strong and gusting winds and poor visibility make long range hits problematic even with this system.

    • Uh wah says:

What the hell is a “smart” bullet?

      I can’t wait to hear this one…….

Just to help you out: Without knowing anything about this system, it seems obvious that the way it works is by setting a way point that the optic (scope) will continuously track and maintain as its zero (bullet’s impact point). While you sway and move your reticle around, it will automatically adjust the zero to hit where you set the marker at. There’s no “smart” bullet that can fly in loops and write your name in the air before it impacts.

  2. deowll says:

Oh yeah. Obama’s re-election has stimulated one part of the economy. Gun sales are through the roof.

    • msbpodcast says:

That’s the first sector of the economy targeted (I have no shame ;-)) for recovery, and its doing well.

Be a patriot. Buy a gun! Lets get our economy going again.

  3. super77 says:

Not sure how I feel about this. It takes the skill out of shooting all together and any “nut job” can become a precision killer at distance.

I’m sure the CIA will sell this tech to a small rebel army abroad and in about a decade, they’ll turn on us and our troops will have to deal with this.

    • WmDE says:

I don’t think it affects skill so much as removes doubt. You have to line up the shot and mark the target.

      Pull the secondary trigger.

Then line up shot a second time to fire weapon.

An interesting possibility is team sniping. Two or more weapons fire if all secondary triggers are pulled and all weapons are on target. Good for hostage situations.

    • msbpodcast says:

sell this tech to a small rebel army abroad

Yup. “Hey Mujahedeen get rid of those reliable, dirt-tolerant, low-tech Kalashnikovs and buy our outrageously over-priced, finicky weaponry instead.

Yeah, like that will ever happen…

    • No so super says:

You mean the same rebel armies that still use dug up Kalashnikovs that were left behind? The same ones that manufacture bombs out of household items because they can’t afford anything else? The same rebel armies that use machetes to chop off heads and hands of village members? The same rebel armies that call a pick-up truck a, “personnel transport vehicle?”

You’re talking about the same rebel armies that have known for years that our troops glow in the dark because of the amount of IR identification they use, but can only afford one worn out Gen 1 night vision per 1,000 fighters? Maybe you mean the rebel armies that resort to slave labor to mine for diamonds because they can’t afford excavating machinery?

I’d say you’re ‘super’ alright. Super retarded. Not a rebel army from Africa to Afghanistan that could afford or have access to this type of equipment.

  4. bubba mustafa says:

Cool. Assignation #’s will go up.

  5. Roasted Eagle says:

I was wondering how long it would take for some anti-gun idiot to jump in and start in with the usual bullshit arguments: “This tech will be used on us or our troops” seems to be a favorite. Then there’s the other one (yet to be uttered): “That’s not really hunting” or “those aren’t hunting weapons” or words to that effect.

Never even mind the fact that nearly every crazed gunman who’s shot a group of people is still drawing breath! The few who died either shot themselves or had the cops do it. But for every other crazed gunman in lockup, it’s the LIBERALS who keep them alive and COSTING US MONEY to house and feed them!

So SHUT UP! And look up the words DEFENSE and HARVEST before you open your liberal ass word maker.

There’s a DIFFERENCE between sport hunting and HARVESTING of an animal. There’s also a DIFFERENCE between DEFENDING your home and property from being a cop-calling NUISANCE too!

And with pure assholes like Nancy Pelosi coming for your weapons it’s no wonder that arms sales are through the roof! She could care less about YOUR rights. She and every other liberal Obama loving “brown-noser” just wants the MONEY and the POWER to CONTROL you! And step THREE is to take away your ability to defend or even support yourself by taking away your guns.

    • spsffan says:

Now, does anyone wonder why defenders of the 2nd Amendment are stereotyped by the media as nuts? You rant and rave like Donald Trump and then expect anyone with an IQ over 15 to pay attention ? Huh?

For the record, the device in the video looks quite useful and darn right neto. But I’m sticking with my M1 and S&W686. Neither of these need batteries.

    • The Monster's Lawyer says:

There, there. Now don’t you feel better now. Tell us how you really feel. Bless your heart. ….

    • me says:

I love how “liberal” is somehow anti gun. I am a “liberal” (you would probably consider me a communist I am sure but I am not) because I believe in freedom… and separation between church and state. And I collect and build military rifles. Last I checked it wasn’t Obama who took our guns, it was Bush.

So back off nut job and make a new tin foil helmet for your back woods buddies.

    • Doctor says:

Take two aspirins and post us in the morning.

    • msbpodcast says:

Huh, idiot the gun trade has been the only sector of the economy that has been flourishing during this depression.

      Why? Because…

Obama knows that gasoline is over priced and not under our control, cars that use it last and last, and take up a lot of space to just sit there, but you can just buy another useless weapon and rack it up in a gun locker in the closet and that is even better for our economy than another iPad or iPhone in a desk drawer somewhere.

Car companies are dying but you can always fit another Remington™ in the closet. It’ll give you something to play with while you sit there on your front porch.

Banks have been bailed out with your tax dollars so they’re not really hurting, but they’re not growing either.

It doesn’t matter what sector of the economy gets off its knees as long as one of them does.

Look at the gun producing companies. Now look at the cities where they’re produced. Look at their economies. Do you see self-sustaining growth in all of the associated and ancillary /supporting sectors?

      See what I mean?

Obama isn’t against guns, he’s all for you going ont and spending a few hundred bucks on something locally or at least American made.

  6. Dallas says:

An old Teapublican subliminal ad… sorry you lost. 2016 elections are only 1400 days or so away.

  7. fishguy says:

    I like it.

  8. Don't be scared says:

With cameras that won’t “shoot” a picture until you smile, are you surprized?

Think of where all this technology will lead. In time, anyone, anywhere, will be able to kill anyone, anywhere.

Meanwhile, I’m going to save up for a pocket force field device (PFFD). Maybe Apple will make it part of iPhone 10. They can do anything.

  9. jpfitz says:

Very glorified electronic scope, we all knew this would be a reality oneday.

  10. noname says:

Who still uses guns when you have a wicked armed drone!

Playing games at work, clicking to launch missiles, now that’s a true arm chair warrior!

  11. George says:

Works sort of like the firing mechanism on a battleship. Because of the pitching and rolling of the ship, the guns were triggered to fire as the angle of the deck crossed a horizontal plane. In other words, they too only fired when they were on target.

Being a gun guy and an engineer, I have mused about a system such as this, and am fairly impressed that it seems to work. Also, being an engineer, I am very familiar with how demonstrations are set up to show the technology in the best light.

My question is, what good is this if the shooter can’t bring the rifle back on target in time? He has to acquire the target twice with this system. Still, they will get lots of military money before the system is shitcanned.

    • So what says:

A problem not addressed by the video is a non-stationary target. It’s rare enough to get that perfect still target shot in a hunting situation. What is really the likely hood of a still target in a combat environment. It won’t do any good if all you do is spend your time on target “tagging” the target.

    • CrankyGeeksFan says:

Targets seem to be selected whose color contrasts greatly with the surroundings as they appear in the viewfinder.

The video from the viewfinder on the left-side of the frame reminds me of the scene from the movie “The Terminator” when the terminator follows Sara Connor and Reese into the alley from the dance club.

Does this company also make a “plasma autoloader”?

  12. observer says:

What a celebration of potent destruction.

    And how appalling.

  13. Captain Obvious says:

Fascinating and terrifying, all at the same time.

I guess that’s life in the tech lane.

  14. Ah_Yea says:

Nobody should loose any sleep over this. It’s not that great and VERY expensive, upwards of $20,000 each.

Notice the ranges? ~ 225 yards tops. If you can’t hit a watermelon with a regular scope at 225 yards, you must be blind. A really GOOD scope can cost less than $800.

Notice we never saw it hit a paper target? I’m gonna bet it doesn’t compensate for windage and so isn’t that accurate.

I can hit a bowling pin at 180 yards with my Remington using a Lyman peep sight. No batteries required.

  15. .... says:

Video game tech, real world mortality.

  16. Mr Show says:

Dallas has been boring since J.R. died….no, actually he’s always been boring. Poor one track Dallas!
