Too many computers making buy/sell decisions with no human judgement — if a computer gets a virus, Wall Street sneezes! (Or in this case, false information.)
And apparently, many humans also making buy/sell decisions with little or no sober judgment. The computerized buy/sell programs just followed the trend that reckless humans started. Without doing their homework. Like making sure the Twitter was true.
