If a news channel interrupts a member of Congress mid-sentence, one might assume that the breaking news would be of considerable urgency.

Not with Justin Bieber in trouble. MSNBC interrupted former Rep. Jane Harman, Democrat of California, as she earnestly applied her expertise to discuss the NSA so they could tell the world that the baby-faced swag demon had been arrested in Miami, Fla. It seems a cause célèbreakdown trumps analysis of our right to privacy.

OK, it was just some Congress critter mindlessly babbling about something or other, but still…..and by the way, just when did Jane Lynch become a member of congress?

  1. Snooze Cast says:

    Hey, it’s MSNBC.

    Did you expect anything else?

    • NewFormatSux says:

Well yes. An analysis has shown that MSNBC is 85% opinion, 15% news. CNN is over 55%, while Fox is around 45%. I’m guessing Headline News is even more if that channel still exists.

So really interrupting news with other things is the ideal for MSNBC.

      • noname says:

So fox news genius “NewFormatSux” was the breaking Beiber News, opinion and commentary or news?

  2. noname says:

Beiber News is of more national importants (sells more commercials) then some politician cheer leading for NSA and ignoring the constituency!

How can you tell when a politician is lying? Their lips are moving!

    • Tell me no lies says:

How can you tell you’re talking to a politician?

He’s smiling and his breathe smells like bullsht.

  3. Interrupting anything resembling a substantive discussion for Bieber news is the equivalent of jingling their keys and saying “Who’s a good boy!” He’s just the shiny object du jour.

Ignorant people are easier to manipulate.

  4. bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist and junior culture critic says:

I don’t know…. does whoever created the comedy bit posted as the second video recognize they were on the exact same level as the Beebs, and worse, because I assume they are adults?

Pop culture. A wayward youth can outgrow it. Adults are stuck in a rut.

    Silly Hoomans.

    • ± says:

      Nothing here of import.

      Silly bobbo.

    • Traaxx says:

I don’t get it, doesn’t a youth become an Adult. Is it your point that “wayward youths” become the same adults caught in the same cycle or is your point that the youths that spend their young lives in ‘Pop Culture’ are bound to change as Adults and see how useless ‘PC’ thinking is, which would be unlikely since few people change and the same ‘youth’ will be the same Adult that only thinks about this ‘PC’ stuff. It just goes to show that those immerse themselves in ‘PC’ thinking are useless and so limited in their world view.

      Whatever………………………………………………………………..
      Traaxx

      • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist and junior culture critic says:

Traax–you have me at a disadvantage. My point is so common sense, self evident, and universally accepted that I assume you are making a deeper point that I just don’t get.

To recap: youths learn their values by testing themselves against the environment (other people included) and finding their own comfort level. Advice, books, family all helping/hurting along the way. Mistakes are expected, the brain and its connections not fully formed.

The youth keeps growing and experiencing and evaluating and choosing and some time in the middle 20’s decides consciously or not what kind of person they will be for the rest of their life with minor changes/passages brought on by the slow rot of longevity. Some traits are established early in life, but most come later. Some early learned traits consume anything that comes later.

        Life is generally like that.

rereading: so my point is that mistakes like Beebs is making are to be expected, as is growing out of them later in life. Money, and bad advice, and being surrounded by syncophants may prevent this with the Beebs, but even then “usually” changes come. Reality is like that. Its what happens regardless of what we would wish for. I’m not refering to Pop Culture nor PC (Political Correctness)…I’m talking about normal human maturation.

Silly Hoomans. First as Callow Youths, then later as dogmatic fantacists.

        • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist and junior culture critic says:

Just a coinkeydink, seems Rush Limbaugh agrees with me: ““It’s not possible to offend me now,” he said. “I won’t give people the power to do it anymore. My problem was born of immaturity and my childhood desire for acceptance. I learned in drug rehab that this was stunting and unrealistic. I was seeking acceptance from the wrong people.” //// and he became the fat bloated dogmatic fantacists that is all too common…..but still not the even more callow youth he once was.

Something just *sounds* right about what you have said in that whole post; Are you an educator?? I recommend to take them behind the woodshed when they are twelve and get them drunk and stoned — Oversight comes into play in that one must watch their charges to see that they don’t initially suffocate on their own vomit afterwards.

I know my veiws aren’t popular… but I’ve never courted popularity. FYI: Rush Limbaugh is a neocon I flushed after he whitewashed the Waco debacle — He went deaf from the newly- introduced viagra and he was in rehab because he got popped at a Florida air terminal with enough oxycontin to tranqualize an elephant through the next million year epoch. No love is lost on that man.

          • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist and junior culture critic says:

I’d think “any” love is lost on that man? I’ll assume typo unless we are on completely different tracks?

No educator here. The bon mots spring from the recognition we are all more the same than different….so when I see a hooman acting as an ass, I look at myself first.

            Its a liberal thing.

          • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist and junior culture critic says:

I can’t leave it alone……….”I know my veiws aren’t popular… but I’ve never courted popularity…” //// Hmmm…the pivot here is the definition of “courted.” I can say I also don’t court popularity….but then I get the feeling I am lying. so then I think quietly for a spell.

We all court popularity….in our own way, to our own degree, on one subject or another, with certain significant others while not with those considered not impactful or relvant, including ourselves.

You wear pants to work don’t ya? You don’t swear at your Boss????

Ying/Yang. Finding the truth in the lie and the lie in the truth.

Its always a mix. If you can’t find it, look more.

        • Traaxx says:

          Boobutt,

” I can say I also don’t court popularity….but then I get the feeling I am lying. so then I think quietly for a spell.” You need some therapy, hopefully from a person of faith. And you should stop lying to yourself…

Again you didn’t seem to read you original point if an Adult can be stuck in a rut then so can a Child/Young Adult…Adults are just capable of changing as anyone, if they admit they have made bad decisions or are wrong. So their is hope for you and your “PC World View”…Beeps that used to be 4×4 drive vehicle…really you are stuck in a “PC” mindset. Don’t worry about the little creep, he’s rich and will undoubtedly get off, it’ll just cost him more money.

          • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist and junior culture critic says:

You are wrong. NORMAL HUMAN MATURATION. What is possible == what rarely occurs == what is the norm.

A continuum. One point on the curve does not characterize the whole.

Subtlety in thinking, or as Pedro would call it: flip flopping.

            Rinse, lather—repeat.

  5. pedro says:

Have a bit of mercy for the producer, even though he works for MSNBC.

I mean, which mindless drone had the biggest priority: the hag or the brat. Tough call.

  6. Hey You Kids! Get Off My Lawn! says:

I couldn’t have said it better myself:

    FUCK JUSTIN BEIBER!!!

When this little prick and all others like him make the “real” news circuits either one of two things is happening: 1.) This country is heading down the shit hole as charged in the video rant, or 2.) It’s not a real news circuit!

However, Justin Beiber probably would have been slightly newsworthy had the little prick killed himself. I’m just not sure I would have interrupted even so much as a commercial selling toilet products to report on it the very second it broke.

You can also bet that if Justin Beiber goes to court that he will get a slap on the wrist by some cock sucking judge who can’t find backbone enough to sentence the little prick to the same number of days in jail that you or I might get.

So what’s next? Some well known Congress critter doing a 3-way?! AGAIN!!! Isn’t it news when it isn’t the Congress critter who’s is getting fucked but rather the PUBLIC?! What the hell are most of these news agencies using for brains when some Hollywood weirdo merits more attention than the jack off’s with any actual power?!

And what the hell do YOU use for brains when you know who Justin Beiber is but can’t name any of your local, State or Federal representatives?! I won’t even try and ask what the 3 branches of government are nor what they do since it’s pretty clear that the majority of non-naturalized U.S. citizens simply DON’T KNOW!

… And the Bill of Rights or the Constitution? That’s a laugh! I bet no one HERE even knows how many Amendments there are without Googling it or looking it up somewhere. But ask them who any of the Judges on “American Idle” are or to name any talking head (news personality) on TV and I bet few DON’T know.

    • Traaxx says:

Just how many facts do you go around remembering, isn’t that the point of reference material? So you can remember and think rather than simply be a catalog of facts without any thought????

What does this have to do with Chris Christie’s bridge scandal?

    • NewFormatSux says:

Liberals slow down traffic even more than that every day as part of their anti-sprawl initiatives.

      • Dallas says:

I’m sure you see no problem with that fat slob abusing his power in office even if you did understand the real issue.

Never mind that. You just don’t fuck with peoples commute to work.

        • pedro says:

No. You just simulate a kidnapping, let it go awry and allow the consulate’s personnel be killed by not sending support.

          Idiot sheep!

        • NewFormatSux says:

Then why don’t liberals deliberately reduce highway spending to build bicycle lanes?

    • pedro says:

Because stopping cars from driving thru a bridge is so worse than asking “What does the truth matter now?” over the deaths of 4 people of which that hag was a direct responsible of!

      Idiot sheep!!!!!

  12. spsffan says:

I was just going to add to the rant about f’Bieber and his ilk.

Then I realized that they preempted Jane Harman. I used to live in her district. She’s the gentile answer to Diane Feinstein*. Anything she has to say about the NSA can only serve to further restrict our freedoms. On the whole, I’d say having this juvenile delinquent’s antics portrayed as news is better than giving Jane a bully pulpit again.

*Basically a fascist who likes Jews and Fags and therefore has been accepted and celebrated as a liberal, despite being to the right of Barry Goldwater.

  13. Peppeddu says:

If you don’t like it just change channel, it’s that simple.
The fact that some people gets so upset is a clear indication of something that is bothering them from the inside.

Mr. Beiber is just a dude who got rich and famous before his brain could understand the real importance of things.
Sadly, he’s following the footsteps of other famous young actors, Macaulay Culkin, Gary Coleman etc.

Two bothersome things in your statement

      1) The parents manage him and his carrier and you label him self-destructive?

      2) Because an abhorrent behavior has happened before one must just look the other way and keep on letting it happen?

      You must be “progressive”

    • spsffan says:

Change the channel? It was on pretty much all the channels. That’s the problem.

  14. Morris Badinov says:

    Hilarious, irrelevent as ever, comments:

    1. Good thing Fox – or any local conservative TV – would never do this.

    Oh.

    2. None of you lot were ever following any discussions at Davos, anyway. NFL, NBA, weather over 6% of the Earth – is so much more meaningful.

    • NewFormatSux says:

No Fox would never do this. They start with this to begin with, and might, MIGHT, interrupt Bieber news to talk about something else.
