We have been reading, watching, digesting it FOR YEARS…
Its gotten WORSE/EASIER to see in recent history…
but, ISNT that Hiding BS, in a Bucket? What we SEE, seems BAD, but under it is worse, and Finding TRUTH…

WHICH do we talk about MORE..the truth, the BS or the Stupid stuff on top..

Lets Cover everything in BS, NOW lets put some Cream On top…Wheres the Cheery?

  3. NewFormatSux says:

That’s what CNN and MSNBC keep saying. Even today CNN aired a story that Russia shut down an American school in Moscow.

  4. PLASTIC MONEY says:

Fake ” News? Are you sure someone isn’t mistaking the word ‘fake’ for incomplete?!

We all know how these news agencies are owned by Hollywood and how these alphabet-soup agencies have to make a PROFIT! Therefore, it doesn’t take a genius to see how every news story has to be pumped up with sensationalism which ultimately brings in MONEY! And with pressure like that, I’m sure a lot of fact embellishment or fact omitting is going on.

But as far as any “fake-ness”goes, I’ve seen almost no news stories that weren’t based on something! Almost every story you see is loaded with white-lies and half-truths — a lot of them are so skewed to one side that it almost changes the story itself! Just take this latest Russian Email Hacker story, for example and ask yourself: Has anyone (as in any reporter) bothered to investigate any of the claims of being ‘hacked’ to see if maybe all these Russian’s did wasn’t to just LOOK at the nearly infinite numbers of UNENCRYPTED email messages that were sent from a lazy stupid people?! (FYI: if you think your email is private, you’re dead wrong! It’s about as private as a postcard on a public bulletin board.)

    • ECA says:

The problem tends to be, we dont know Which are lies until its to late.. Unless you are UP’ on everything.
The last 100 years, the politics of HEMP/MJ..the Wood pulp industry/Clothing industry/Drug companies..
There are people that BELIEVE what is on TV, and also the MJ propaganda..

ANY NEWS that goes beyond the point of JUST FACTS..
“Woman killed and police THINK the husband did it” the word THINK makes this a partial lie. Until there is Truth in it, its all OPINION. I dont care what OTHERS think.
“women was killed, police are looking for her husband” is MORE truth then the first.

      China hacked us..
      Russia HACKED US..
This that and the other group hacked us..
I love security and servers, and know abit from the OLD days..
A HACKER worth his time, is not EASILY TRACED..
A Computer with ACCESS tot he net, is a TARGET.. Why in hell do you leave access to a MAIN computer OPEN to be BEAT on, until someone finds a Password..
They would rather have a Failed Automated system Watch over DATA LOSS then have a sysop TURN OFF THE SYSTEM or disconnect a USER..

Looking at Data links and Hacking incidents, is Fun, as MORE is sent out from the USA…Even most of the FIRST hacks were from the USA..

In the EU they have a few cars that get over 50mpg..NOT allowed in the USA..

The REGION CODES ON movies and music..means nothing on the net..region 1 is NORTH America..ALL of it..but try to get a TV channel from canada..try to watch movies from up north. Think HOW they decide WHERE you are living..PING you servers? or ASK your Browser? Ping, how do you get the Server location?(ask your browser)

What else you want to talk about? GMO’s, how the USA power system is STUPID? HOW utilities are no longer Utilities? Utilities are NOW corp entities, to MAKE MONEY for Stockholders NOT service to the people they serve..
That the ISP’s were paid 2 times, in the past 1`6 years to UPGRADE the Fiber system, and they didnt..

  5. bobbo, seeing reality thru the fog of political propaganda and the Media Stoogefest says:

Fake News has always been with us. The change is that main stream media now treats it on par with credible news. How can they not when they and the fake news sources are all the same people?

  6. ± says:

There are no more lies on the internet or the media than there ever was. “Fake News” is a failed bullshit meme that now the inventors of it can’t back away from gracefully. But it will die slowly. 3 months from now, you’ll never hear about it again (or maybe until the next election). The meme was a still-born attempt to stifle right wing lies on the internet in response to Hillary losing. Of course left wing lies would still be OK.

It’s OK tho for Marc to keep it alive a little longer on this blog.

  7. NewFormatSux says:

AP ran a factcheck of a fake news story, totally pointless because the owner of the website admits its a hoax site to make fun of Trump. But AP thought it was fake news to help Trump, so it had to be attacked.

  8. This Just In says:

Fake News: Survey shows 85% of the people in Time Square right now are wearing Depends.

    • ± says:

Har. Are you sure that story is fake? Also, who in their right mind would would have ventured there unless they had a hotel room or some other safe haven within the security perimeter? He asked rhetorically.             🙄

  9. bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

I went to Times Square for New Years once. The fake news/rumor/scare of the event was a warning that black teenagers had put razor blades in the tips of their shoes and were going around kicking tourists to sever their Achilles tendons.

I assumed at the time it was a rival campaign for Florida beaches.

  10. hmayle says:

The coming attempt to censor “fake news”sites is nothing more than an Orwellian attempt by the maimstream media and the government to eliminate all but the “official version” of news from the public eye.

    • bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

Are you closer to Fort Lauderdale or Del Ray?

  11. NewFormatSux says:

“You flyover rubes are so stupid that you can be manipulated by the facts that we were too incompetent to effectively hide from you!”

  12. Phydeau says:

So much self-serving BS here, but why should today be any different? 😀

Lots of you were flogging that story about Clinton being seriously ill. Congrats, you were conned by a fake news story.

I have to give y’all credit though… not many of you seem to have bought the story about Clinton running a child sex ring from a DC pizza shop, but a lot of wingnuts have. Congratulations, another fake news story.

Interesting interview here with a guy who runs a bunch of fake news sites. Here’s the money quote:

    http://www.npr.org/sections/alltechconsidered/2016/11/23/503146770/npr-finds-the-head-of-a-covert-fake-news-operation-in-the-suburbs

When did you notice that fake news does best with Trump supporters?

Well, this isn’t just a Trump-supporter problem. This is a right-wing issue. Sarah Palin’s famous blasting of the lamestream media is kind of record and testament to the rise of these kinds of people. The post-fact era is what I would refer to it as. This isn’t something that started with Trump. This is something that’s been in the works for a while. His whole campaign was this thing of discrediting mainstream media sources, which is one of those dog whistles to his supporters. When we were coming up with headlines it’s always kind of about the red meat. Trump really got into the red meat. He knew who his base was. He knew how to feed them a constant diet of this red meat.

We’ve tried to do similar things to liberals. It just has never worked, it never takes off. You’ll get debunked within the first two comments and then the whole thing just kind of fizzles out.

So you wingnuts aren’t necessarily stupid, you’re just more gullible than us liberals. And you’ve kinda given up on that whole truth/reality thing. To be fair, there are a couple left-wing fake news sites too, but not nearly as many as the ones that you wingnuts gobble up. The market has spoken, and it has said that “conservatives” buy that BS. 🙄

    • NewFormatSux says:

Liberals already have their fake news sites in mega size with CNN, MSNBC, NYT, etc. How many liberals believed the fake news story ‘Hands up Don’t shoot’
Or that George Zimmerman said ‘Coon’?
NBC put up audiotape that had him saying ‘He looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.’ Liberals bought it all.
The real tape is ‘He looks like he’s up to no good. “Can you tell us what race he is- white, black, Hispanic?” He looks black.’
It fit the narrative the fake news sites wanted to sell so liberals bought it.

  13. Phydeau says:

To be sure: The corporate media has its own censorship. We don’t get the whole story, not by a long shot. Look at http://fivefilters.org/ for a good look at how the media filters out stuff they don’t want us to see. But it’s not blatant lies like the fake news sites. Which is worse, meh, I don’t know… 🙄

    • ± says:

Please provide a link to one site which you categorize as a “fake news site”.

      • Phydeau says:

        You could have RTFM.

The sites include NationalReport.net, USAToday.com.co, WashingtonPost.com.co. All the addresses linked to a single rented server inside Amazon Web Services. That meant they were all very likely owned by the same company. Jansen found an email address on one of those sites and was able to link that address to a name: Jestin Coler.

        • ± says:

I only went to this site: http://nationalreport.net/
You’re joking that this is a fake news site, right? I’m not wasting my time on the other two links you posted.

          • Jonesy says:

Yeah an onion knockoff is seen as a fake news site.

            Its a parody site. And
            Phydeau is a knucklehead.

          • Jonesy says:

Everyone here knows what a fake news site looks like. You aren’t telling us anything.

Stop looking down your nose at the rest of us. You’re just not that bright.

          • Phydeau says:

No, Jonesy, this thread is filled with people denying that fake news is any different from the traditional media outlets. Like our friend plusminus:

There are no more lies on the internet or the media than there ever was. “Fake News” is a failed bullshit meme that now the inventors of it can’t back away from gracefully.

When I pointed out examples of exactly the fake news sites that he denied, he ran for the hills, like wingnuts do when confronted with reality.

You’re going to have to do better than that.

And you’re right, I’m not that bright… but I can google and I can appreciate reality, something that apparently escapes you wingnuts. 🙄

          • ± says:

That’s a great quote you posted. “Fake news” as something new is total bullshit. Like I said…

Liberals circle the wagons around every new bullshit made up concept. “political correctness”, “white privilege”, “hate crime”, “hate speech”, “safe space”, “trigger words”, …. All liberal inventions that have ZERO basis in reality. It’s all about controlling the narrative. Good thing there are enuff sheeple like you for the concepts to get traction.

          • bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

Ha, ha………………Post Menopausal said “Zero Basis in reality.”

Thats a good example of the the Pot calling itself………. a pot.

I do crack myself up…… but wingnut analysis is always a good initial source.

Maybe I read too quickly……..but isn’t the biggest consumer of FAKE NEWS SITES, in addition to the totally compromised one of political bias that are even worse, ……….. our one and only Pres Elect? “Someone sent me a twitter…………..”

          • Phydeau says:

Fake News coming from websites dressed up to look real, but not real, as snopes described it, is relatively new. And it’s aimed at wingnut “conservatives” because they’re the ones most likely to buy that BS, being the gullible wingnuts that they are. End of story.

          • NewFormatSux says:

I’m with Phydeau on this. The point is not the website itself. It is to have the website, and then others will write “NationalReport.net reported X”, passing it around on facebook and such. People who actually look at the site recognize it’s ridiculous.

          • ± says:

NewFormatSux (and it still truly does), if you’re with Phydeauxgh on this, then you are with the liberals who want to shut down “fake news” sites. They get to define what is “fake news”. That is what the “fake news” meme is all about. It was an initial knee-jerk reaction along with ‘Comey’, ‘Russia’, ‘vote miscounts’, etc. as a desperate counter-attack against the legitimacy of Trump winning the election.

This is not a defense of the American electorate who has sunk to an all time new low and who there is absolutely no defense for.

So don’t drink the liberal cool-aid. There is no more ‘fake news’ now on the interwebbitubes than there has ever been. There are just more idiots who have near zero critical thinking skills leaving liberal learning institutions who can’t tell the difference between what might be true and might be false.

          • Jonesy says:

I think you should be way more concerned about CNN and Washington Post, NBC CBS etc… who have always been considered as legitimate news sites, and now proven to be purveyors of Fake News.

That’s the real danger, not some stupid ass parody sight that has zero credibility from the start. You did use that as an example and you need to own it.

          • NewFormatSux says:

±, on the limited point about these particular sites, these are the fake news being discussed. I agree with you about Left intentions.

          • Phydeau says:

Hey Jonesy, you wingnuts were parroting lies from the fake news sites right before the election, including the one about Clinton being gravely ill. Speaking of credibility.

I agree with NFS that most people just pass along the headline and don’t bother to try to read the article.

But the major media outlets do need to be watched too. They represent the interests of the rich and powerful.

PM, fake news is pretty easy to spot. It’s outright LIES from fly-by-night websites. Like “Hillary Clinton is gravely ill”. Or “Hillary Clinton is running a child sex ring out of a DC pizza parlor.” Or “FBI Agent Suspected in Hillary Email Leaks Found Dead”. All lies. But understandable that wingnuts are having trouble telling lies from truth, with all those years of watching Fox “News”. 🙄

          • ± says:

Phydeau, learn this; any sensational news which has the slightest political slant and regardless of the source, is automatically suspect by default for people using their brain.

But you R/Ds keep on destroying the country. I can’t do anything about it except try and enjoy the ride while I can, and hopefully be part of a real change at elections by not trying to rehire D/Rs.

    • Phydeau says:

Hey you’re right for once! 😀 Sloppy reporting and sensationalism. Let’s see what it looks like once they sort thru it.

  14. NewFormatSux says:

Phydeau, still believing that Hillary ‘stumbled’. She’s powering thru(lately not even that). I thought you were done defending them? Hillary 2020 here we come!

PS do you think Obama should retaliate against China for its hacking?

    • Phydeau says:

I dunno about how “retaliating” will help… expelling diplomats, what did those diplomats do wrong? All seems like a bunch of meaningless ceremony. We’re hacking them, they’re hacking us. We have to try to stop them from hacking us.

      • ± says:

        Two things;

        1) did you just dis your lord-god-and-savior Obama? This decision goes that high. If you don’t ‘get’ that, go away.

        2) When it comes to national security, even Obama can do good things and we are never going to see the rationale for the seemingly stupid (to you) decisions. [case in point, he figured out he was wrong about closing Guantanamo and backed off immediately about it even tho he never admitted what a total schmuck he was for wanting to close it in the first place]

    • Jonesy says:

Stupid now has their poster boy. And to think this fucking moron was HRC closest “advisor”.

  15. Phydeau says:

    http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2017/01/04/u_s_and_russian_election_meddling_is_surprisingly_common.html

Turns out election meddling has been pretty common…

    • bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

Yes indeedy…..”everybody does it” then FAKE NEWS steps in to decry when the Russians do it to us and the Right Wing goes bonkers.

Who reads and believes Fake News other than Donald Trump? =======> most of his supporters. A tight little group of nit wits.
