I’m calling FAKE NEWS on this story. Especially since the source is the “Intelligence Community” who hates Snowden so much that they are having wet dream fantasies about Snowden. I’m not buying it. It’s fake news. Total bull!

Why you might ask? First of all it was Obama who was obsessed with Snowden, not Trump. Trump probably doesn’t even remember who Snowden is. I would think if Putin wanted to give Trump a “gift” it would be some sexy spy/hooker to keep him company in the Whitehouse with Melina not living there. And Putin is an old KGB guy and they don’t give away spies as presents. Putin isn’t as disconnected from Reality the way Trump and Obama are.

This story makes the intelligence community look like a bunch of obsessed idiots who can’t even come up with a believable lie anymore. Our spies don’t spy (except on Americans) the just make stuff up. What a bunch of losers.

  1. IM78 says:

If this turns out to be REAL NEWS, how do you save face after writing this? Delete it?

  2. bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Where did you hide the link?

I could google “the issue” but I’d like to review YOUR source.

    • Marc Perkel says:

I’m smart enough to figure it out myself.

      • bobbo, there is usually some good even in bad experiences says:

So you “figured it out” that the Intelligence Community was putting out rumor that Snowden was up for gifting?

I think I have figured out one source for fake news.

    • McCullough says:

Why would he need a link, its an OP, no link required.

      • bobbo, there is usually some good even in bad experiences says:

because: “….I’d like to review your source.”

You know: be on the same page. Considering the same facts????

Otherwise, its hard not to talk past one another.

It is demanded by good scholarship and a desire to be understood, …. to communicate…… to live and learn.

        • IM78 says:

It’s not often, I admit it, but on this one I agree with, Bobbo

        • Marc Perkel says:

This might be far more complicated than you can understand but I am the source.

          • NewFormatSux says:

Marc, you are answering a question that wasn’t asked. He’s not asking for where you read it’s fake, but where you read the story that you decided was fake.

Really, bobbo, this has been reported on Drudge, so it shouldn’t be hard to find.

      • Marc Perkel says:

Some people don’t understand the concept of original source.

        • bobbo, are we devo? says:

“Logically”….looking at how we could both be right: I’m asking for a link to what made you think Snowden might be given up by Putin. You can’t think that up out of a vacuum. Logically, you read something about a possible loss of Snowden’s protection by Putin?…or his possible return to USA?

But…linking this always present possibility to action/rumors by the Intelligence Community has to come from some third party source?

The only rational “independent thinking” POSSIBLY going on here is that such a loss of protection by Putin would be as a gift to Trump…..and that is indeed the purpose/function of an OP.

Indeed, IF SNOWDEN IS GIVEN UP….. there could be NO OTHER REASON FOR IT. giving up Snowden would be a disincentive for other traitors to share their info with Putin. But every traitor puts himself on a timeline of retribution, his usefulness to Putin expended.

Given the Pros and cons….I would expect at some date for Snowden to leave Russia and appear at some other protected anti-Western State. At the Rate things are devolving…it could be Mexico? Ha, ha….. but I dither and just amuse myself……..

C’mon guys. You can do better, even as you don’t.

          • ± says:

You’re not getting it. Marc’s plan backfired.

The label “Fake News” is just a lazy way to dismiss news. People really need to stop using that if they don’t want to sound dumb.

“Snowden has given serious information to China and Russia-anyone who thinks otherwise is a dope! He is a traitor who fled-he knew the crime!”

      • Jeff says:

“I think Snowden is a terrible threat, I think he’s a terrible traitor, and you know what we used to do in the good old days when we were a strong country — you know what we used to do to traitors, right?”

        • Marc Perkel says:

Snowden is a patriot and deserves the metal of honor.

          • NewFormatSux says:

You thinking iron of Negan or lead of Putin?

          • ± says:

Yes, Snowden deserves a high velocity lead medal/metal. He is a traitor. He is likely responsible for the deaths or useless retirement of many formerly secret US (and possibly other friendly government?) operatives which took irreplaceable years, and countless millions of dollars to develop.

And Snowden is your hero. I hope the efficacy of your anti-spam site isn’t infected with your totally fucked up weltenschauung.

    • bobbo, there is usually some good even in bad experiences says:

      Not true.

Faux Spews was dismissed as a credible news source decades ago based upon its reliably slanted to irrelevancy bias.

Faux Spews ……. hmmm…. I don’t know….. it usually isn’t “the source” of false news….rather they “find it/figure it out” and report it as reputable, unless one of their trolls planted the fake news so Faux Spews could find it or quote some source other than themselves.

      Close enough.

Its only been since Trump that Faux Spews has been referred to as Fake News. You know: not really bias….just stupidly provably wrong over completely inconsequential issues.

………….. Working Hard to Lose in 18.

      • Machete says:

You mean like the Clinton News Network? FOX News is no more guilty then your mainstream faves.

        • bobbo, there is usually some good even in bad experiences says:

Thats the thing with you RightWingNuts: you identify a problem, then become completely irrelevant by claiming everyone else is just as bad.

…… and you don’t even see the issue after its pointed out to you 50 times.

          ============> 51.

        • hmeyers says:

          All of them are biased.

CNN is a virtual Democratic Party talkings point apparatus. The Ministry of Truth in 1984 was probably only slightly worse.

Fox News is “safe spaces” for Republicans. Their discussion of topics is rather honest, but the the choice of topics to discuss or the angles to discuss are Republican-oriented.

I got sick of the news networks long ago, mostly because the news networks are dominated by party talking points or a very Washington/Politics/Republican-Democrats point of view.

The weakness of the two party system is that these 2 parties do not represent a very wide set of points of view.

At the risk of triggering Bobbo, which is not the intention …

But the news networks discussions of topics like climate change are wrong, for instance. There are more points of view than “alarmists” vs. “deniers”.

Also economic points of view like policies to grow jobs within the United States, something neither party cared about — both parties are on the “outsourcing/H1B visa train”.

Worse: The news organizations are owned by powerful multinational corporations and are certain to have rules in place to prevent discussion of anti-megacorporation points of view unless a prominent politician requires such a discussion.

          • bobbo, are we devo? says:

There should be NO DISAGREEMENT or discussion regarding the SCIENCE of AGW. Its as established as evolution.

What we do need is a HUUGE discussion regarding what to do about it. All kinds of room for that. Different approaches, different funding levels, my favorite: funding new research for new technology from green energy to co2 removal to climate super comuters to gmo for crops …..etc….a full gamut of discussion NEEDED but unable to take place. Ha, ha====>stupid people confused by too much FAKE NEWS clouding the issue.

HM: you should review your position. You call all news bias and slanted…but then approve of Fox News….. which I assume you have separated from Faux Spews commentary/talk shows…. those low cost to produce propaganda machines aka as infotainment. I basically agree with what I think you mean to say.

          • NewFormatSux says:

China is off limits at FoxNews per Rupert.

          • bobbo, are we devo? says:

China was my first thought but rejected.

They would do it for pure politics, but not do it for economics/trade relations.

The Chinese, better than USA, understand the priorities.

          • Hmeyers says:

“There should be NO DISAGREEMENT or discussion regarding the SCIENCE of AGW.”

            New flash:

Science — by definition — must be worthy of disagreement and discussion.

You are suggesting the “High priests” method of knowledge they used in the middle ages.

This is why you are not a friend to science.

Since you don’t know what science is.

          • Hmeyers says:

I do *not* approve of Fox News and would not watch it for more than 5 minutes.

I think TV news is complete garbage.

Yes, Fox News is more honest in discussion than CNN — who isn’t? — but it just means they use a different method of spoon feeding “thinks you want to hear” to the audience.

CNN is setting the low bar for utter trash news, and it works for them — they made $1 billion in profit last year.

This doesn’t mean Fox News isn’t bad, it is quite bad to me but in ways you wouldn’t understand.

Fox News and all the news channels support the megacorp agenda.

We are at that point with AGW. Anyone is welcome to do more research and analysis to add to the body, and it may even be overtaken by a larger body of more compelling evidence some day, but policy should be based on the current best consensus.

The “fake news” meme is just another lie invented by liberals (along with many other ploys that didn’t stick) in an attempt to de-legitimize the hiring of Trump. Now “fake news” has legs of its own. And Trump is running with it. And the same pathetic people that tried to hire Trump and Clinton are going along with it.

There are no more lies on the internet now than there ever was. Why camouflage that which is a lie (fake news) by letting it hide behind another name? [he asked rhetorically knowing full well what the answer is]

       😢

    • Ah_Yea says:

      Yup.

Remember when The Media promoted twitter as a reliable news source during the “Arab Spring” (what a joke) and the Iranian “Green Revolution”??

Remember the Obama admin pushing the “internet in a suitcase” to get around a nations censorship?

So they promoted unfiltered twitter and facebook as real news. Now they promote these same sources as fake news.

They promoted their own irrelevance. Just go on twitter! Who needs CNN!

Chickens have come home to roost.

      • hmeyers says:

For better or for worse, social media or something like it is the likely future of news.

Removes the filter and “man in the middle bias” of the news channels.

        • Ah_Yea says:

          Yes, that ship has sailed.

What strikes me is the hypocrisy of pundits like Wolf Blitzer reading tweets in CNN as real news, to turn around later and complain that tweets are not real news.

          • Hmeyers says:

Wolf Blitzer is a real news man.

On election night, I watched CNN’s election coverage (which was live streamed on the internet).

            And Wolf is class act.

When Trump hit 270, Wolf didn’t hesitate to report the facts.

Meanwhile, on MSNBC Chris Matthews and the rest of the staff were crying.

          • NewFormatSux says:

FoxNews was too interested in maintaining drama. They had Wisconsin called hours before the other networks, which was all Trump really needed, but they never connected the dots.

Interesting background that didn’t get mentioned. I saw it on The Circus. The exit polls were way off, far more than the regular polls which were actually quite accurate. All the media KNEW that Hillary was going to be the President, as of about 3PM. The early returns were going to show a close number, and their job was to make it seem like it was up in the air to keep the ratings up, but they KNEW that Hillary would end up winning.

      • NewFormatSux says:

Twitter is also biased. The replies to Trump’s tweets are uniformly negative, because Twitter hides the positive ones.

    • Marc Perkel says:

So are you saying that “fake news” is fake news?

      • ± says:

Yes. Calling a lie “fake news” instead of a lie, confers an unnecessary/undeserved status to that lie.

        • bobbo, are we devo? says:

Just a thought….. “lies” used to arise mostly in context of someone being caught in something and trying to avoid responsibility by lying. They wouldn’t have said anything but they were on the spot.

Fake News….. INITIATES the lie for the speakers own reasons.

          I know……………….. nuance. Aint that a bitch?

But there actually is fake news out there. Example, “Hillary lost the election because of the Russians.” Fake News. “Hillary lost the election bacause she makes the voters puke.” Real news.

          • ± says:

That Russia meddling had the effect of changing the outcome of the election is a lie, why call it fake news? Like I said before, this “fake news” meme was invented by desperate liberals trying anything to discredit Trump’s win. Now it is in itself just a pejorative way of dismissing stuff, true or not, by people hearing what they don’t want to hear.

I think this news should really help cheer up the Democrats and re-energize them.

And Hillary should run again, she won the popular vote by a couple million votes.

She could still cement her legacy becoming the first female President. And show if you want something bad enough, you never give up.

Whatever. Something creepy about anyone running that strong so often and losing…and still wanting it. For What? Ha, ha…. does she really think America “needs her” that much???

      http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2017/02/13/white_house_reportedly_warned_flynn_vulnerable_to_russian_blackmail_after.html

As the implications of National Security Adviser Mike Flynn’s phone call with the Russian ambassador to the U.S. continue to unfold, the Washington Post reported on Monday that outgoing Obama administration officials were concerned about one particular possibility—that Flynn had made himself vulnerable to threats of Russian blackmail. After some internal debate at the highest levels of government between then–Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, CIA Director John Brennan, and FBI Director James Comey about whether to inform the incoming Trump administration of Flynn’s potentially illegal correspondence with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, the Post reports, shortly after Trump took office, Yates, who stayed on as acting attorney general, and another official briefed Trump White House counsel Donald McGahn.

Great leaders don’t hire obviously bad people.

        https://pjmedia.com/instapundit/72794/

No problem with having bad picks. The real problem was keeping the Treasury Secretary who cheated on his taxes. How can Democrats complain about anyone Trump appoints after that?

        • Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

Uh, you guys and your gullible brethren hired a guy with a VERY shady financial background who refused to disclose his tax returns (as every other candidate had before in the past). That was the Mother Of All Bad Picks, and we’re stuck with him (maybe) for the next 4 years. 🙄

      More from the WaPo:

      https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/justice-department-warned-white-house-that-flynn-could-be-vulnerable-to-russian-blackmail-officials-say/2017/02/13/fc5dab88-f228-11e6-8d72-263470bf0401_story.html

Intelligence analysts began to search for clues that could help explain Putin’s move. The search turned up Kislyak’s communications, which the FBI routinely monitors, and the phone call in question with Flynn, a retired Army lieutenant general with years of intelligence experience.

From that call and subsequent intercepts, FBI agents wrote a secret report summarizing Flynn’s discussions with Kislyak.

Yates, then the deputy attorney general, considered Flynn’s comments in the intercepted call to be “highly significant” and “potentially illegal,” according to an official familiar with her thinking.

While you guys are looking under the bed for Russians, it turns out you had spies in your midst all along. You can look this up, but I’m sure you wont because your a partisan hack.

“Chiefs of staff for dozens of Democratic lawmakers who employed the four were informed last week that a criminal probe was underway into their use of congressional information technology systems, including the existence of an external server to which House data was being funneled, and into the theft of and overbilling for computer equipment.

Brothers Imran, Abid, and Jamal Awan and Hina Alvi, Imran’s wife, each made $160,000 a year as information technology workers for the House. Their salaries and time were shared among dozens of Democratic members, including former Democratic National Committee Chairman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida. The lawmakers also include members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.”

        • Hmeyers says:

          Thanks for the link!

3 Muslim brothers are each paid $160,000 to work for the Democrats. One had a criminal record.

They begin to access unauthorized intelligence briefings.

          Lovely.

It’s this kind of nonsense I can’t stand. It defies common sense.

        • Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

So a couple of guys working for Congress are being investigated, and you’re equating this with the president hiring people compromised by Russia, and the president is probably compromised himself because he won’t release his tax returns.

          Sure. Exact same thing. 🙄

          • Hmeyers says:

You had a good observation with the Trump talking secret information within earshot of random guests.

I don’t think that is very good.

      • NewFormatSux says:

So in order to hurt a Republican President, someone leaked that the government is monitoring the Russian Ambassador’s phone calls.

This blackmail you speak of, did you figure out what it was?
Merely that the Russians knew he talked about sanctions with the Russians! What a threat.

        • Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

Uh, the intelligence community doesn’t tend to share their wiretap results with the general public.

It’s so funny… back in the days when the Republicans commanded their followers (you) to hate the Russians, you hated the Russians with a passion. Now that they’ve commanded you to like them, you’re all cuddly’n’cozy with them. Aw, isn’t that sweet? Gullible little wingnuts. 🙂 <3

          • NewFormatSux says:

In between, the Berlin Wall fell down. It was the Communists that were hated, ot the Russians.

Here is the guy that should lead the Democratic Party.

He is one of the 7 in the running:

Sounds like he is a good strategist with some clear thinking — which is something the Democratic Party is entirely lacking these days.

No whites need apply. In 2004, Bob Novak told Paul Begala, “The era of the White Texas Democrat is over.” That has gone national.

Oh my… why in the name of all fucks are any of you still wasting your money on cable subscriptions?… if you just have an HD antenna hooked up to your tv then WHY(?!) are you wasting you TIME on any of this nonsense?!

So much talk about NETWORKS. You’re all getting played.

Read more. (And that doesn’t include your favorite echo chamber “ahum!”… I mean “internet news site”)

There are so many smart people on this forum. I sincerely mean that. That’s why I’ve lurked for a decade.

This shit has been covered before in human history and fully documented. Pay attention but please UNPLUG!

ummm…. because my atenna on top of a 30 foot pole gets nothing? Once in a while it will show reception of 3 channels and load their numbers into the channel search…but then show no picture. Its old, maybe busted. The $20 cheapo’s get no signal.

I’m 50 miles from the sending towers but live in a slight dip surrounded by trees.

but thats just me. Even so…If anyone has any interest in cable cutting and saving those bucks, just google Kodi, or search for movies or tv on Youtube. Pluto Tv is an easy install. If you are a news junkie….its all there.

Of note: your computer can do “everything.” Phones and Android Boxes just do some programing for you. Easier, but not necessary.

Google Cardboard totally works with my entry level smart phone of $150. Now to find out if those 2D to 3D conversion programs can do a worthwhile job.
